This is a great hotel. The staff are very friendly, and the rooms good sized and clean. If there ever is a problem, staff work to fix it right away (small items like needing more toilet paper). Great place to stay, would recommend it to anyone.

Just stayed here for 3 nights. I was surprised at receiving a suite since I was traveling alone and reserved a room with one queen bed. The room was clean, had a nice seating area and a private balcony. Restaurant and pub on premises are frequented by locals so I consider hat a good sign. This property is directly across the street from he Alaska Marine Highway ferry port so if you're arriving with a car or on foot, it's convenient. It is, however, a couple miles north of downtown Ketchikan. The airport ferry is just north (maybe about a half mile?). Only downside was that my room shared a wall with the fitness center and someone started working out at 5:30 the first morning.

Room Tip: Avoid room 268 due to the fitness center next door.

Dear Wadec3:
We appreciate your comments concerning your stay with us. We are happy to hear you enjoyed the upgrade to a suite. There are times we may have overbooked our standard Queen rooms and need to upgrade some guests to our suites. Our restaurant is a favorite of the locals. I believe one of the many reasons is we serve breakfast all day long. Although our location is a couple miles from downtown; we do have a complimentary shuttle service that will take you anywhere within the city limits from 6;00 AM - 10:00 PM. We hope you made use of this service. We do apologize for the noise from the fitness center next door. It is not a room for those that wish to sleep in and do not have a reason to rise early.
Thank you for taking the time to do a review of our property. We hope you will visit us in Ketchikan again in the near future. Best regards, Linda Peters, G.M.

I can't say enough good stuff about this hotel. From check-in to check-out I was impressed at how friendly, clean and efficient this hotel was... especially for what one would typically consider as a "standard" hotel choice.

Huge rooms (some people from my group had a balcony), comfortable beds, CLEAN rooms all with fantastic views of the water too, plus my room had a fireplace! For someone from Miami this was pretty awesome.

Restaurant food was very good too, with a huge menu and excellent service. Every employee I interacted with at the hotel seemed genuinely friendly and really made sure everyone in our group felt welcomed.

Free shuttle service to the KTN airport and downtown was great as well, due to our frequent trips to and from the airport it was nice to build a relationship with both drivers!

Room Tip: Ask for a room that faces Tongass Highway, they have balconies and fireplaces! Pictures posted here...

Dear DanPolulak: We are so happy to hear you enjoy your stay with us and you were impressed with our property and our staff. We believe the rooms with the view of the Tongass Narrows and the fireplaces are our best rooms. They are comfortable and cozy. We are glad to hear you made use of our best amenity- the shuttle service. Although it is very busy; we feel our drivers do a great job at getting our guests to their required locations on time. You are correct in the fact that our pictures are not up to date on this site and we are in the process of getting them changed to show off the beauty of our rooms. Although pictures never do them justice to show the spaciousness of them. We sincerely hope you will return to Ketchikan in the future and give us another opportunity to show you superior customer care. Thank you for taking the time to do a review of our property on this site. Best Regards, Linda Peters

After a long drive through Canada and a 5 1/2 hour ferry ride to Ketchikan, it was a nice treat to check into our suite at this Best Western. This hotel has many additions that they have put on over the years, and the only room left for us was the suites. It was a little higher price than the rooms, but very large.

You have a living room and bathroom that can close off from the large bedroom. This is nice if one of you wants to stay up and watch TV. They say the rooms are too small for a roll away, but I think that if you weren't using the living room (there is a TV in the bedroom), a child could easily sleep on a rollaway there.

It is the best location for getting off the Alaska Ferry, just roll across the street into their entrance. We also ate breakfast in the dining room and it was okay. Two doors down there is a nice, small grocery store if you need to buy a snack.

Room Tip: If you want luxury: ask for a suite.

I've stayed here for business visits a few times and plan to stay here for every trip down. The rooms are spacious, clean, and the beds are very comfortable. Air flow can be limited in some rooms due to the close proximity of another building, but fans are provided for cooling on warmer summer evenings.

Very nice rooms, comfy bed with lots of pillows. Fridge and microwave. Sink separate from the bathroom, a plus. Nice desk area for working. Helpful staff, restaurant on site, didn't go, but had good reviews. Convenient to airport and ferry system, but no view from the rooms and Ketchikan is so beautiful; would have enjoyed being able to see the water from the room.
Rates for summer in AK, not bad.

Dear Shawnswife3:
We are sorry to hear that you did not get a room with a view; as we do have several of them available. Several of them have balconies and are nice one room suites. If you did ask for a view; I apologize that the staff did not accommodate your request if there were any available. Thank you for the praise of the amenities we offer and your location. We are located for easy access to the ferry and the airport ferry and our shuttle van service is great to take you anywhere within the city limits to enjoy the sights.
We want to thank you for taking the time to do a review on Tripadvisor. We sincerely hope you will plan another visit to Ketchikan in the future and spend some more time with us.
Thank you again for the review.
