They are a great company to do a tour with. Amazing Bear experience at Traitor's Cove. The landscape view from the float plane was beautiful, the pilot was nice and accomodating. The Bear guide was nice, informative, and helpful. Must of seen 7 or 8 bears eating Salmon from the stream. My kids were amazed and then they fell in the love with the dog Max at the office, they must of thrown the stick 20 times in the water for him to go fetch. Awesome experience from the 1st minute to the last!

We didn't charter Seawind for a flightseeing tour, nor were we cruise ship passengers. We had something much more challenging for Seawind and the service and support we received was exceptional.

My wife and I are wilderness campers - Alaska is our favorite place for this but we had never been to southeast Alaska or the Ketchikan area. Planning a trip like this begins 9-12 months ahead, which is when Seawind first helped. Once we decided on the general area we wanted to go to - I contacted several air charter companies in Ketchikan asking for advice and recommendations. Steve and Lesley at Seawind were by far the most helpful and responsive. I talked to both during the winter and with their recommendations reserved National Forest Service cabins in two different locations for a week each. One in Misty Fjords National Monument and the other on Prince of Wales Island.

Seawind's communication was excellent during the planning phase. They recommended an outfitter, a satellite phone rental company, and even a saltwater fishing guide for the few days we had in Ketchikan between camping trips. All worked out excellently.

Once we arrived in Ketchikan, I hesitate to write how much Lesley and Steve helped us out, because they went so far above the expected I don't want to create the impression that everyone should expect the service we received. Suffice it to say - they treated us more like family guests than customers.

The actual trips went very well. They loaded all of our gear in the plane, we left promptly when planned and the flight was smooth and enjoyable. Steve explained scenic highlights along the way, helped us unload our gear and even provided fishing tips for our destination. Pickup a week later was exactly as scheduled, although this time Rolf was our pilot. Due to weather we had to take a different route than our trip in, but this was nice because we got to see different scenery, and Rolf took his time to explain highlights along the way. Rolf even took the time to tell us about some of the wildlife to expect at our second cabin ;) . My wife especially appreciated this information.

Our second trip out started as planned with the same great flight out, also with Rolf, to Prince of Wales Island. Arrival and unloading was smooth and efficient. On our day to leave the weather turned bad, with low fog and lots of rain. We were in contact with Seawind via our rented satellite phone, and they tried to make it in to land but had to turn back. Rolf waited in a nearby bay for three hours waiting hoping the weather would clear, but it didn't. We heard him try to get in several times, but the fog and clouds were just too thick to make it into our lake. We had a 9 am flight the next morning to Seattle. In a last attempt to get us to our flight on time Rolf tried again - at 5:30 a.m. to once again make it in - but the weather hadn't improved so he had to turn back. Finally in the middle of the afternoon, the weather cleared some, I called Seawind and Steve was on his way to get us. He made it in OK, we packed up and left, and caught our rescheduled airline flight the next day. I'm sure it was expensive to make three attempts for one pick up - but Seawind did not hesitate at all to try.

We have traveled to wilderness Alaska lakes with several other air charter companies - I have to say Seawind is the best. Their dedication to customers and safety is exemplary. The planes are equipped with modern avionics, very clean and appear to be well maintained. Both Steve and Rolf are excellent pilots, and know the area well. Lesley is fantastic - she runs the office, is available day and night, and can help with any local support you may need.

The next time we need a charter service in the Ketchikan area - Seawind will be our only choice.

We arrived in Ketchikan by cruse ship on Sunday, August 10 to be greeted by cloudy skies and torrential downpours. Our family of 10 booked this excursion several months prior and were really looking forward to it. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate and it forced SeaWind to cancel our flight. We were disappointed, but understood - they said it would be a very bumpy ride and visibility in the fjords was poor so we wouldn't see anything. When we got back to our cruise ship and were discussing this with other people, they mentioned that their tour operators did fly to the Fjords, but the flights were bumpy and they didn't get to see anything! They were impressed that SeaWind cancelled. So, we saved a lot of money due to SeaWind's honesty and good business practices. While we would have loved to see the Fjords, we were all glad that we didn't waste our money, and we were even able to do a helicopter tour in Juneau due to this savings.

we arrived on August 7, 2014 it was a rainy cloudy day. Didn't expect to do an excursion but I talked my husband into it :) best decision we could have made. Despite the rain the view was spectacular I can only image what it would have been on a clear sunny day. Our pilot Steve Kamm was great and really did his best to find us some wild life, although we didn't the view itself was awe inspiring. I would recommend this excursion highly! keep up the great job Seawind! thanks for making our 25th wedding anniversary something to remember.

Sincerely,

Leslie and Steve Kamm are the owners of this Misty fjord flight seeing company. I booked directly with them. Leslie was extremely helpful and just a delight to deal with. We where picked up just steps from our cruise ship by another friendly staff member. After a short drive we arrived at their office where we were given our safety demonstration and were ready to go. Steve loaded us in and took us on just an amazing tour of the fjords. He is very knowledgeable about the area and educated us about life in Ketchikan.
I would highly recommend this tour and thank Leslie and Steve for their professionalism and pleasant staff. Our experience was fantastic!
