“great adventure”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

it was raining and cold and the kids did not want to do it.... we were picked up right at the cruise dock -- had a pleasant ride 30 minute ride to the dock; were outfitted in rain gear and then had a fabulous time - it was beautiful and the guides very friendly and knowledgeable. Loved the amazing bald eagle "encounter" -- learned a lot -- got a little work out -- not to strenuous - fun and active which is what we wanted - the kids ended up loving it. Yeah!

“Kayaking with sensitivity”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

We took a half day kayak tour and were very pleased with the environmental focus and marine focus of the trip. We were told that it would be a gentle kayak trip and it was just a bit too gentle for us. We would have preferred to see more with a little more effort. We did however see some beautiful scenery and learned alot from our guide.

Our family had a wonderful kayaking experience with Ketchikan Kayak Co. For several of us, it was our first time kayaking and Howard and his group were very helpful and patient in teaching us. They were knowledgeable guides and we saw quite a bit of wildlife. It was a beautiful area, with excellent guides who made sure we had a good time. I'd highly recommend them to anyone.

“Very Worthwhile”
Reviewed 29 June 2014

This was a relaxing, peaceful kayak trip which got us out into "Alaska". Howard and Jordan are really wonderful people and very open about flora, fauna and life in Ketchikan. All our needs were accommodated and we were quite comfortable on the trip. We saw minks, starfish, bald eagle and a bit of sea otter. The trip was really what I had hoped for. This was in late May. Howard worked closely with us to accommodate our ship's schedule and personally attended to this were needed to ensure we were well taken care of for which I am very grateful. I highly recommend this trip. Thanks Howard and Jordan. :)

“Howard is the man.”
Reviewed 27 June 2014 via mobile

Had a great time hanging out with Captain Howard in his local stomping ground, Clover Pass.

He paddled alongside and showed us all kinds of stuff. Notably, a pair of 25 year-old bald eagles who live in a big ol nest on one of the islands. Other eagles were snatching up fish from the water right next to us.

Howard's super friendly and easy-going, and he has a sweet collection of tandem and solo kayaks. The foot-pedal steering made it really easy to steer, and the waterproof bags/gear he provided kept all our stuff safe.

This guy is a true Alaskan pioneer. Came up here on a leap of faith from California, built his own house, and now he commutes to work year-round in a kayak, catches his own food, and he knows everything about the local wildlife.

For the cherry on top, I highly recommend grabbing a beer or two from the pier where you start/end the adventure. Awesome collection of artisanal malt beverages. Including the legendary "Abyss," an elusive, world-class stout aged in three types of specialty barrels!
