Our ride out to the resort on this cruise ship tour was by bus with narration, and then we boarded
the 10-12 person small boat that looked brand new and was a very comfortable ride out. They
stopped at Eagle Island to feed what is pretty much the locals pet Eagle. Then a narrated ride with Jackie our tour guide who has a wealth of information about the area and wildlife. The resort is in a remote beautiful bay, and the new section they put in for the crab boil is really nice with modern clean bathrooms and a great covered open air porch with picnic tables. The couple that host the crab boil are very welcoming and friendly. My only complaint, is the quality of the crab boil. More of a sausage and potato boil. A couple of small crabs, some small shrimp, and a few small mussels/clams were added to a pile of sausage and potatos with corn all split between 6 people at a table. For the price you pay for this tour, I would have expected more actual crab in this "crab boil". They are caught and brought in right at the dock they leave from, so supply should not be a problem. Local restaurants charge about 15 bucks for a huge Dungie
crab served with butter, so I would think one per 2 persons would be more in line and would actually make this a "crab boil" instead of a sausage feast. Otherwise the tour itself is perfect, expecially the walk through the rain forest. Really beautiful and you can tell they spent a lot of money on the boardwalk that goes out to the big Cedar tree.

Thank you for taking the time to review our tour! We think of Silverking Lodge and the Grant Island State Marine Park as our own little piece of paradise and are glad to hear you thought the same thing! We were glad to hear that the facility was comfortable and enhanced the surrounding natural beauty and that our staff did a great job of hosting you.

We were sorry to hear that the meal didn't meet all of your expectations. Based on other customer feedback we receive, your experience was not the norm. The meal we serve is an Alaskan Seafood Boil and it is our intention to highlight the types of seafood found in local waters, with other ingredients thrown into the pot to enhance the "main dish". Please accept our apology that this did not happen on your tour. You are welcome to contact us directly (907.228.2320) so that we can immediately make this right.

Now that you have visited us once we are hopeful that you will return again. The commercial crab and shrimp fishermen of Southeast Alaska will be excited to know you have a taste for Southeast Alaska Dungeness and shrimp and we will we enjoy having the chance to see you again!

beautiful location, great food and the peace and quite was everything we wanted and needed. The nature trail was so serene, could spend hours just sitting and enjoying the quite. I'm not big on sea food but fresh is the best and this was sooooo good I had all I could eat!! This would be a wonderful place to spend a week or two to fish, relax and enjoy!

It was our pleasure hosting you at Silverking Lodge! Thank you for the kind words. Hopefully the next time we see you it will be netting a fish from your boat or sitting with a great book in the porch swing on a sunny afternoon!

Thank you for reviewing our tour. It appears from your review that you had the pleasure of joining us during one of our periods of "liquid sunshine"! We're glad the weather didn't hinder a good time. No doubt Don & Faye had the porch heaters going, some hot coffee in the pot, and some hot food on the table to warm you up! Come and see us again, rain or shine!

Overall value and experience could not be beat by other excursions. The Staff, was excellent, the Out post Lodge where the Seafest was held was outstanding. The walk through the Rain Forest was educational and awesome. And the Food, I have had a lot of seafood broils in my time and this was by far the best, the taste, quality and quanity was outstanding. The Bld Eagle nest was the cream of the crop. We are looking forward to going back and doing it again.
