Description: The Narrows Restaurant has panoramic views of the Tongass Narrows waterway. Seasonally, humpback and killer whales pods, bald eagles, kingfishers, great blue heron, mink, harbor seal, and merganzer ducks abound. Cruise ships, float planes, ferries and fishing boats keep things interesting. Our food is fresh, homemade and among the best in town. We specialize in fresh local seafood; especially halibut, king salmon, and world class oysters from Coffman Cove, as well as Angus prime rib beef for dinner. The halibut and chips and the king crab are the largest in town. Our specialties for breakfast include Swedish pancakes with lingonberry butter, Dutch babies, and reindeer sausage. Our soup is always homemade and the seafood chowder is outstanding. We will accommodate any changes necessary for dietary considerations, including Vegan. This winter we are keeping the cost down to $16 with our "Easy on the Wallet" Comfort Food menu which includes Cajun Meatloaf, Jambalaya, Norwegian fish cakes with Shrimp sauce, grilled Ham Steak and homemade Mac n Cheese, among others. We have a Jazz night on Friday nights from 6-8 pm which showcases local talent, at least durng the winter. Please join us.

“Great Food, service was lacking”
Reviewed 2 July 2014

We spent 4 nights at the Narrows Inn, so we ate in the restaurant a few different times.
The food was good, the breakfast servers were lacking. It might have been their first jobs, (it looked like that).
We would have been difficult for an experienced waitress, so I give them that. We had different folks, families and their kids arriving at different times to eat. We kept adding to the table size.

One server seemed to be inconvenienced by us. She had to get up from her table and her cell phone to wait on us.

The night that we brought our fresh caught fish in and had them prepare it, the fish was FANTASTIC! We had rock cod and halibut. The rock cod was breaded and fried. Everyone at the table thought it was outstanding.
The Halibut was cooked three different ways. The is nothing better than fresh halibut! We loved it! Every way they cooked was wonderful.
The server for our dinner was pleasant and professional.

Maybe on an island, and in a small town, good help is limited.

“Terrible cold food ( expensive) ”
Reviewed 17 June 2014 via mobile

We ordered the tackle box. Took at least 45 minutes. Came To the table cold with shriveled veggies., nor recommended! Bad service. She dropped off our food and left. Not to return! We couldn't even complain. We left money for our drinks and walked out!

Very embarrassing. ..owners were obnoxious and very intoxicated. I brought 2 friends from out of town for a dinner ss we have had wonderful dinners before but it has gone down hill for quality and atmosphere in the past few months. We haven't been back since. ..

“Good place for a vegetarian meal”
Reviewed 28 October 2013

We stopped here after our motorcycle trip through the Tongass Pass. We arrived just when the lunch hour was ending and they extended their hours. As we were the only people in the restaurant the owner's wife pulled up a chair and talked with us. She also recommended a vegetarian wrap that was very good. We were "lucky" to see a deer swim up through the narrows which caused quite a commotion!

This restaurant was not deluxe but had a warm family feel. Unfortunately, the only area open with our late arrival at lunch was the smoking section, but hey I was grateful they served us nonetheless. There is non-smoking seating available too.

“Getting Better”
Reviewed 13 September 2013

A group of friends who regularly have Sunday morning breakfast together have started going back to The Narrows after a pretty long break. It was fairly hit-and-miss before; sometimes we could rely on a good experience, but just as often we left disappointed. However, things are looking up! They have a really good Spanish omelet, they'll cook things to order (if you like your hash browns crispy, they have no problem with that), and they can serve a group of ten with a minimum of errors. The waitresses are always friendly and chatty, sometimes a little too much so, but they are cheerful and try to please. Some of us end up pouring our own coffee when things get busy, but that happens at other local eateries as well. There isn't a reliably upscale restaurant anywhere in Ketchikan, in our opinion; if you're looking for big-city, four-star, white-cloth-draped-over-the-maitre d's arm quality, it simply isn't available here. Ketchikan isn't that kind of place. But for a reasonably priced, well-cooked breakfast with an amazing waterfront view, The Narrows is a good bet. We've been cautiously branching out and having lunch there, as well. Pretty good food and fair service most of the time.
