“Awesome Trip!”
Reviewed 11 August 2014

My husband and I went fishing with Jared and had a great time. We caught 6 salmon total (there were a total of four people fishing). It was a pretty slow day for everyone out there fishing, but not for lack of trying! Jared worked super hard, kept us out a little longer to try for more, and showed us around a bit in the water. We really enjoyed our day!

“Fantastic afternoon of fishing!”
Reviewed 10 August 2014

We went salmon fishing with Jared two years ago and enjoyed the trip so much we booked him again for our second Alaskan cruise. Trip date was August 6, 2014. Jared met us at the dock exactly as planned, short walk to his boat, and we were off fishing. The weather was great, conversation interesting and fishing was fantastic. Just as we were finishing up 3 lines hit at the same time and Jared handled them all expertly. Ended up with 13 salmon at the end of the afternoon. This was the highlight for our 15 year old son. As we did last time, we had them processed and shipped home. This time we ordered more smoked salmon as that was the best smoked salmon we had ever tasted. On our way back to the dock Jared showed us the totem pole street, explained the history and then pointed out an active eagle's nest. Jared's style is very relaxed but does work hard to find out where the fish are biting. If we should be so fortunate to go on a third cruise to Alaska we would certainly be booking with Jared again.

“Want to go back”
Reviewed 9 August 2014

We tried to go King Salmon fishing. Our cruise ship was over 4 hours late into port due to mechanical issues, but Jared was very accommodating and took us out late in the day. We were a few weeks early for the run, so our expectations were muted. Other charters nearby weren’t catching anything either. We did hook one, but couldn’t land it. Then, two pods of Orca’s chased the remaining salmon away. We had a nice view of the Orca’s and a bald eagle fishing near the boat. Probably would have given this four stars if we had caught fish. Jared clearly loves Ketchikan and enjoys what he does. You won’t get a lot of touristy glitz here, just good honest fishing.

“What a great day!”
Reviewed 18 July 2014

All I have to say is that Jared was awesome. I am one of those type of people that reviews everything before I buy, and this was no exception. Jared came very highly recommended on Trip advisor and I couldn't agree more. He was right there on the dock when we got off the boat waiting for us. His boat was only a 1 minute walk away from where we met him. We got our fishing licenses right now the boat and we were off. The boat was perfect for the 6 people we had aboard. There is ample space for fishing on the back deck. After a gorgeous ride out to where were going to be fishing Jared went right to work getting the lines out in the water. He no sooner got the first line and before he could get the second out we got our first fish. A huge King salmon. The day just got better from there. All 6 of caught more than enough fish and even my 6 year old son caught about 5 fish himself. I would highly recommend Jared and Rainy Day Charters. We booked a 4 hour trip and we will be doing it again with on the next trip.

Thank you very much Jared for a great day on the water.

“Helps make a fishing dream come true!!”
Reviewed 16 July 2014

I contacted Jared in March and he was there in Ketchikan to meet us in July. From the moment we boarded his boat, Jared made a wonderful salmon fishing experience my friends and I will not soon forget. He knows his stuff well and makes sure you get the fish you came for. Thank you a million times Jared for the BEST day anyone could hope for. Gil Trauman..Florida
