We stayed at the Narrows for 5 days, 4 nights. The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating, including office, restaurant and cleaning staff. The rooms are clean but sparse---a bed, white walls, cheap prints on walls, a table, and a mini-fridge in the room. The beds are very soft, if that is a concern for you. Since we were rarely in our room, the lack of updated and tasteful furnishings did not bother us, but for 4 people--2 adults, 2 young kids--the room was small and rather claustrophobic. So- here's my pros & cons:
Pros:
1. very clean
2. professional, friendly staff
3. close to town, right on water
4. free shuttle service everywhere
5. restaurant and bar attached to hotel
6. Fire pit for guests to use outside on grounds.
7. Price is very good compared to Best Western and other motel/hotels in area.
Cons:
1. austere furnishings, small rooms
2. continental breakfast not comparable to Best Western/Holiday Inn.. very limited, no seating.
I think this is an excellent Inn for price-concerned travelers, but people with kids might want the suite. People with higher end tastes might be unhappy here; take a look at Salmon Falls Resort at the other end of town (several miles outside of town). We found very little in the 'high end' category in Ketchikan; this is a town that either supports fishing industry and is rather run-down, or cruise boats, and the cruise people...We stayed at the Narrows for 5 days, 4 nights.
