“Our 30th Wedding Annversary.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 May 2013

My husband and I celebrated our 30th Anniversary in Alaska and stayed at Summit Lake Lodge. We had the time of our lives. The cabins are extremely clean and cute as can be. The bed was very comfortable. Summit Lake Lodge makes a great hub....you can travel and see the sights all day ( and the days are certainly long) then come back for an awesome dinner and a great night sleep. No packing and repacking. It is home away from home. We will definitely be back. Marty and June's Hospitality was the best. They help us plan our day trips and are very knowledgeable of the area. They really thought of everything and made sure that our stay would be a memorable time....and it was. I would highly recommend Summit Lake Lodge. BTW The staff is great too!!!

Room Tip: We stayed in Cabin #8 with a King bed but all the cabins look just as great.

We had a delightful stay at Summit Lake Lodge with among the most friendly proprietors we have encountered. We stayed in a cabin which was an ideal mixture of updates and Alaskan charm, tucked away in the trees surrounding Summit Lake. Dinner at the restaurant was gourmet - the best we had in our week-and-a-half vacation. Breakfast was included in the room rate and was our choice from anything on their delicious breakfast menu. We couldn't have been more delighted with our stay and wished we had made it our base camp for our entire trip on the Kenai Peninsula. A great value and very charming stay with all the updates you could ask for.

Lovely cabins with comfortable beds and modern bathrooms (and a big flat-screen TV that we didn't use), friendly owners, and a delicious breakfast. We were part of a large group, and the owners were very accommodating, making sure we had everything we needed for a good experience.

This is the perfect place to stay when you want to be in the mountains, but have the luxury of home. Cabins are very clean, large, tastefully decorated. Hosts are welcoming and work hard to meet your needs.

We stayed in the cabins the day after opening day this year (2013). Our hosts could not have been more accommodating of all our requests! We were with a large group, renting 5 cabins for a reunion. The cabins are well laid out, especially the bathrooms. They are clean and everything we needed was there. The beds are very comfortable too. Wonderful breakfast at the lodge in the morning! Thank you so much. We want to make it an annual event!

My husband and I stayed at the Summit Lake Lodge for one night as a stopover on the way from Anchorage to Seward. It was really easy to find since it's right on the Seward Highway (mile 45.5). We stayed in Cabin #4 which we quite enjoyed. The room was super clean and obviously recently refurbished - everything in the room seemed to be brand new, from the flat screen TV (with Dish network) to the woodsy decor. My favorite part was the bathroom - the spacious shower, separate toilet room and two separate sinks made getting ready very easy.

The lake behind the grounds is very pretty even though it was raining most of the time we were there and could not enjoy it so much. We were told there were canoes we could take out on the lake but we obviously did not partake. Note that you cannot see the lake from the cabins.

Check in was fine once we figured out where we needed to be. There is no obvious check in desk as the main building is also a restaurant. We flagged down one of the staff who brought us to the bar to check in.

Breakfast is included and is served 8:00-9:00 in the restaurant. You order from a menu and have a variety of choices which is nice since the restaurant isn't open to the public for breakfast. They could have easily done a continental type breakfast or had a fixed meal each day since they're only serving guests but we were glad to have a variety from which to choose.

We also ate dinner in the restaurant which was really good. My husband had a halibut dish that he really enjoyed, and I had a cajun pasta dish that was one of my favorites on the whole trip. Service was prompt and friendly. There is also a separate building that serves pizza and ice cream during the day but we didn't get a chance to try it.

Overall we really enjoyed our stay at the Summit Lake Lodge and would not hesitate to stay there again. The room was wonderful, the location was quite nice and the staff was friendly.

We stayed for one night in august 2012. We had cabin #3 which was beautiful and very comfortable. The scenery around the lodge is out of this world- the lake and the surrounding mountains, just gorgeous. Breakfast was tasty and we had also dinner at the restaurant, which was very nice and reasonably priced. I hope to get to this part of Alaska again, and if I do- I will definitely want to come back to Summit lake lodge.
