We had a great stay here! Jeff and Rose were welcoming and the place felt like home. Our room was comfy with amazing views. They helped us find places to go around town and even gave us a personal tour of some very special things. Woke up to a hot, delicious breakfast and went to sleep after a nice soak in the hot tube. Lovely people and a beautiful place to stay.

This was the best place we stayed in during our trip on the Alaska Highway from Bellingham, WA. We drove 4000 miles. The rooms were clean, furnished with everything needed, the TV worked fine, the view was beautiful, and breakfast included homemade French toast and all the cereals, yogurt, etc. one could want. The Kenai River is nearby but it would be a good place to relax if you're not into fishing. I would definitely stay longer next time and recommend it highly.

My wife and I stayed at the Inn at Tern Lake for 2 nights during our recent trip to Alaska. We were disappointed with the quality of the breakfasts, compared to other B&Bs we stayed in. We were comfortable enough here, but it certainly is not luxurious, as some write-ups stated. The grounds and surrounding area are beautiful and very peaceful, but the room appointments and finish are only at the average level - pedestal sink, standard poly shower enclosure, etc. The bed was very comfortable. This B&B is conveniently located on the Seward highway but set back far enough that traffic noise is not a factor. In my search for accommodations in this area I did not find many places available, mostly because of the lateness of our decision to make this trip. It was a difficult decision to spend $200 per night.

My husband and I have traveled extensively--in chain hotels, B&Bs, and expensive resorts. We spent one night here in 2010, and decided to stay 8 nights this summer. Rather than staying in different towns every couple of nights, we used the Inn as our hub and made day trips out to Seward, Hope, and Cooper Landing. We were so happy with our decision.

Rose is an excellent baker--her cookies, brownies, scones, coffee cake, etc. were all wonderful. We didn't repeat a breakfast the whole 8 days--and every day was something new. We were not super ambitious to start our days early but would typically wake up around 9, eat breakfast, and go back to sleep. We didn't want to miss any of the food!

The location of the Inn in Moose Pass is beautiful, surrounded by snow-covered mountain. There are a dozen hiking trails within a few miles of the place. And it seems that the whole family is forever working on the grounds--complete with golf green, sauna, hot tub, tennis court, basketball court, greenhouse, pond, and gardens.

The Inn was perfectly clean, and lacks the excessive knick knacks and dust that seem to be popular at some B&Bs. Each room has a small balcony and private bathroom. The beds were comfortable, and everything was in excellent shape.

I really like that the B&B is in a separate wing from Jeff & Rose's private house. Jeff and Rose are busy people for the most part doing their own thing, and you feel very comfortable making the B&B side of the house your own. There's a full kitchen so you could cook if you were so inclined, but we particularly appreciated the refrigerator for storing our leftovers (portions in Alaska restaurants tend to be huge).

Most of all, we appreciated Jeff and Rose's excellent recommendations for hiking trails (some of our favorites were discovered through Rose), rafting guides, and restaurants. They've lived in Moose Pass for a long time, and Jeff has worked in Seward for many years. They know many of the people running the restaurants and tourist destinations, and so their recommendations were truly useful.

Jeff and Rose are friendly, but not overly intrusive, and we always enjoy our short visits with them. They were more than willing to go above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable--Rose got up at 6:30 to make us breakfast one morning when we were trying to get to Seward for a boat tour, and Jeff offered to put his kayaks in at Tern Lake for us.

We will certainly be back to the Inn at Tern Lake -- it is a very peaceful place that is a perfect place to relax.

The one problem we had was internet access--it seemed to work some days and not work others. We had a Verizon mifi with us that should have provided internet but didn't seem to work well either, although we got cell phone reception with AT&T just fine. We had trouble locating a local coffee shop or restaurant that had internet access reliably nearby.

Jeff and Rose were Super and we felt welcome immediately. Our room upstairs was the most comfortable, relaxing and peaceful place in all of Alaska. Rose is a fabulous cook and we really enjoyed the breakfast she prepared fresh for us. This place is spotless. Jeff helped us understand that we really could make it to all of our destinations on time. He left an hour before we did and even called home so Rose could relay the road conditions to us. Wonderful place and Super nice people, you really need to come here and enjoy.

Room Tip: You'll be pampered from the moment you arrive. Every room is beautiful and all have great views.

The Inn at Tern Lake near Moose Pass, AK is a perfect spot for our sewing retreat. Its four upstairs rooms sleep many and we are able to set up our sewing area in the downstairs commons area. The kitchen makes it possible to share meals. But the view of towering snow-capped mountains, lush ponds, and meandering trails make it perfect for a wedding or musical performance. And the Hettricks welcome one and all with warmth and yummy breakfasts. I highly recommend it!

Room Tip: All the rooms are beautiful.

I attended a wedding at the Inn at Tern Lake over Labor Day weekend. It was an exceptional venue for the occasion and great place to spend time with family and friends. Everything about the facility it top notch and well done. This was a weekend that we will long remember.

The food was excellent. Keep meaning to write and see if they share recipes.

There have even been discussion of going back for Thanksgiving or just a quiet weekend.

Thank you for a memorable visit.

Gretchen
