We spent one week in North Pole during the winter...cold!! However, we did stay in Hotel North Pole in a suite with 2 rooms, one bathroom, kitchen, living room and dining room. Very clean, the front desk and houskeeping service was always helpful and friendly. The continental breakfast was usually good and always on time. Even though it was the off season for Alaska, the suite was extremely reasonable rate. Would stay again anytime.

Room Tip: If going there in the winter and staying longer than 5 nites, check out their very reasonable and cl...

We took our five year old grandson to the North Pole to see Santa and the ice festival. Our experience was perfect for the three days we were staying, although had we stayed longer I don't think we would have been too comfortable in the room. Although they do have a nice lobby area there really is no place to relax for three people in the room itself. I don't care to sit on the bed. The staff was great. They were eager to help with anything we wanted. The breakfast fare was better than some we've had at other hotels. The weather of course was wintery and finding it too unsafe to walk the three or four blocks along the road to the Santa Clause house, we used Bens' North Pole taxi and were very happy with his service.

My family and I had an extended stay at Hotel North Pole... For the entire two months we were there, the customer service was amazing. Not only were we invited to the employee Thanksgiving Dinner, the maid service was great, breakfast always had plenty of choices and the front desk staff was amazing as well. One particular employee that went above and beyond many nights for our family was Ellie. I can not thank the staff of Hotel North Pole enough for keeping our family comfortable while we were lodging in their hotel.

Stayed here on the way back from the article circle, riding two bikes. The hotel staff were most accommodating and friendly. The rooms are nicely furnished and clean. The rates are competitive and the hotel is near a great Chinese restaurant and other fast food outlets.

Beds are comfy and the location is also across the road from a mall. There is a good breakfast in the morning.

No I swimming pool and did not eat at the restaurant.

Would stay there again.

On business for a couple weeks, hotels in Fairbanks were filled up due to the AFN conference. The closest place to stay was North Pole and this is the best hotel there. It looks like an older hotel that they attempted to add "ski lodge" flair to with a nice (gas) fireplace in the lobby and pine trim around the old, but clean walls.

As for the room, they have a flatscreen TV, with 30 or so channels. No guide, so the remote is your best friend. I slept well, but I don't think they sell these mattresses anywhere, anymore. The bed is creaky and you can feel the springs in the side of the bed. Nothing fancy about the room at all. The bathroom looks like it's leftover from the late 70's/ early 80's. The "sitting area" they describe for the room is a standard chair in a corner. It's honestly a stretch to call that a room. In the lower 48, we call it a corner. Fridge is cold. Microwave works. They have a small coffee maker which they may or may not replinish coffee supplies. Speaking of that....

A word on Alaskan service. If you've ever been to the Caribbean, set your bar about that high. They've got their own way of doing things, and for the most part everyone here is very accomodating, but most people in the service industry do things in their own time and either don't understand, or don't care to work to make a good experience an excellent experience. Don't yell at the people or get in a rush. That's just the way it's done.

Never had a problem with the staff. They cleaned very well, answered all questions, but lacked attention to detail and didn't take the extra step to make people feel "welcome".

Breakfast: carbs, carbs, carbs. If you want some protien, you'll have to have the yogurt or milk, or go somewhere else. Little Richards Diner (It's not like THAT Little Richard) is awesome.

By North Pole standards, this hotel gets a 5. By regular standards, it's a 3.

In summary, clean, warm, and meets basic needs. Don't expect any flash.

If you're planning on visiting North Pole (please don't call it The North Pole, it's aggrivating) I'd recommend no more than one day. A half day if you don't like looking at Christmas decorations.

The Hotel North Pole was an excellent choice for our stay while we were visiting Fairbanks! The lobby is beautiful and inviting. The room was nice and comfortable. The hotel staff was always very pleasant and more than helpful. I wanted to especially mention how tremendously helpful Ellie was. She went out of her way to make sure we were taken care of when we had a minor issue with our room. I would stay here again without hesitation if I am ever in the Fairbanks area again!!
