Best king bed I ever slept in. Nice modern apts on lower level. Breakfast of salmon quiche, next day potato.broccoli omelet, Yummy! Handy location, in the middle of Alaska(Denali, Wrangell & Kenai Fjords NP's. One ml east of Hwy1 on Hwy3, on top of hill, all by itself. Beautiful landscape.

Room Tip: Seven cottages are separate and quieter, although I rarely heard the wonderful & hospitable own...

I recently spent 3 nights at the Alaska Garden Gate Bed and Breakfast. It was great. The room was very comfortable, clean and quiet. The property is well maintained. It was a little over an hour drive to Talkeetna where we did some sightseeing tours. It is also a little over an hour’s drive to the Matanuska Glacier. Anchorage is not a far drive either. So, the B&B is located in an area where you can easily travel to sites on very scenic roads. The host, Karen, could not have been more accommodating. She has plenty of suggestions for things to do while you’re there. Breakfast, which was prepared fresh at the B&B, was left in the refrigerator in the room each afternoon so that you had it for the following morning. This way you are able to heat and eat whenever you’d like! Some days omelets and muffins, some days quiche and banana bread. All were delicious! The room had a coffee maker too and fresh ground coffee and filters all ready to go. I felt like I was at home, with none of the work! Stay at this place, you will not be disappointed!

Room Tip: I stayed in the "main house" and loved it. Friends of mine stayed in one of the individua...

Loved it. Owner Karen very nice and helpful. Room very nice. Very big for family of 4. Very big bathroom. Even had luggage thing she brought to car to bring things in. Pretty view. Great kitchen.

Only suggestion...give options for breakfast...said generous breakfast...she put 4 omelette s w chees, sausage, etc in fridge night before and muffins...muffins good. We warmed and ate omelets although not that great since not fresh. Kids hated and didn't eat...didn't provide juice or milk. Also brought yogurts. We saved for snack on return from day and they were gone.

I expect a B&B to have fresh food and kid-friendly options like pancakes, waffles, plain scrambled eggs. Kids are picky. We had to make them peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

Thanks for providing feedback for visitors and for us! We are constantly seeking best options for our continental breakfast baskets. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay and found it spacious and comfortable. Sorry we took your yogurt! We assume that items left in the breakfast basket are ones you'd like us to take away when we put your next day's breakfast in your frig--sorry you didn't know that!

We stayed here on our way from Anchorage to Denali. The owner greeted us on our arrival, took us to our cabin and explained all the amenities. Lovely place with fridge, microwave, cable tv, wifi. Simple breakfast was provided each day. Convenient to Wasilla (strip mall town) and Palmer (a bit more charm), Hatcher Pass and great hiking, and the Musk Ox farm.

The Alaska Garden Gate Bed and Breakfast has nice garden and cottages and was a decent place to sleep. The place is away from Palmer and located in middle of nowhere next to a highway, and one needs to drive several miles to go for meals.

Breakfast was a total waste and went to garbage bin. It was precooked omelette filled with cheese that was simply terrible after re-heating next day. There was also some oatmeal and a tin of juice concentrate. We just had some coffee and left to get some breakfast in Palmer.

This should not be listed as bed and breakfast. If it was just advertised as a hotel with coffee maker in room, I would be fine with it.

As a bed and breakfast place, this was certainly the worst experience we ever had.

I am very sorry that your stay with us did not meet your needs. With the number of things you didn't like about our place, it sounds like there was probably a better choice somewhere else for you. Perhaps an urban setting would have suited you better. We enjoy sharing our country setting (just 5 miles from Palmer and Wasilla) and many guests are glad for the peacefulness compared to a hotel in town. Most people don't mind driving to Palmer or Wasilla for dinner or the many activities and attractions in our area. The breakfast that I made for you is precisely what is advertised on my website and the other travel sites we participate in. I'm surprised that it struck you as so unacceptable since it was juice, oatmeal, a fresh clementine orange, banana bread and the omlettes we made. As I've mentioned in other review responses, there are many B&Bs which serve a hot breakfast in a group dining area, but far more B&Bs in Alaska offer a type of continental breakfast. We have found that ours fits in the middle range of that, compared to others across the state. We do like to offer a protein entree as well as fresh fruit, muffins or breads, yogurts, oatmeals and juices. I'm sorry this ranks as your worst experience ever at a B&B. It feels to me like there is something else that you're not saying in your 2-star review, given that you had decent sleep and enjoyed the flowers and setting. I'm sorry that you didn't let me know of your displeasure while you were here, so I could try to improve your stay. Please call me to discuss it if there's anything I can do to ameliorate your stay at this point. -Karen

We can HIGHLY recommend, The Alaska Garden Gate B & B and cottages, which are a short drive from
Palmer, in a very pleasent garden setting, with a great view of the Knik Glacier and Chugach mountains,
we had the Evergreen Retreat, and could not have been more pleased or comfortable, - two bedrooms,
and a lounge which has a couch, TV, and 2 big windows for natural light.
The bathroom is well set up, and has spare towels, a substantial breakfast is supplied in your cottage,
and unlike some hotels, the parking and WiFi are FREE.
Thanks Karen and Camille, our short stay at your property, made our 17th anniversary, and our first visit
to Alaska a very special and memorable one. Stayed August 2013 - R and M - Australia.

This was a very nice duplex cottage, quiet, full kitchen, comfortable beds, nice shower and bathroom, view of Knik Glacier from our window. We recommend this place highly if you are staying in the Palmer area.
