“Great burgers”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 July 2014

This is a nice addition to Palmer's dining options. Nice atmosphere - a traditional casual ale house with a bar area (lots of beer on tap) and more of a dining area. Very nice waitstaff. We had burgers once and they were great - came with tasty fries. Also had a salad on a bother visit - it was huge, I could not finish it, but it was very good. There is a great outdoor space and I have been when they had a live band outside which was a lot of fun. Definitely try it if you are in Palmer!

“Beer and great food!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 June 2014 via mobile

Tons of beer on tap and really well prepared food. We went 2 nights- because the first night was so great. The place is recently opened and locals are very excited about. There was a wait for a table both nights, but not long. Very relaxed. Service is very attentive. The kitchen is not speedy, the the food is really well prepared. We had an enormous salad (split! And still huge!), French dip was almost as good as a Philly cheese steak, pizza was very tasty, fresh, cheesy (this is not NY style pizza nor do they claim it is).
2 thumbs up!!

“One of Palmer's Newest for Lunch & Dinner”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 June 2014

Must like beer and pizza for this joint… Although they do have some nice salads and a couple of other entrees, their pizza does seem to take up a large part of the menu. I have had the burrito twice now and both times, it has been tasty and a meal in itself. It is in fact been quite large for me and thus, took home a doggie bag.

They do seem to have a nice selection of beers but their wines are lacking for selection and offering better quality wines. (You can tell when a place does seem to focus on one or the other and it definitely swings to the beers and with a name such as Brew House, this certainly fits.) However, for the rest of us that don't appreciate beer and brew, it wouldn't take much to bump the choices to better ones.

We haven't been in the summer yet but can see that having the back patio will make a nice seating area on a warmer day should it present itself (it is Alaska of course.)

The service has been lovely and of course, one of the best attributes of this restaurant. However, on that note, it was divulged that the stress of the staff was directly stemmed from the manager who has has a power trip with hiring and firing dishwashers. One of the key people in your restaurant, this can make or break the staff of service for the rest of the evening, so here's hoping that upper management can sort out Mr. Power Trip for the better of the establishment and the patrons that come to it.

“First dinner in Alaska- a winner!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 June 2014

My husband and I visited the Ale House on a visit to Alaska, and found it to be a very good place to eat. Everyone working there seemed to enjoy their work and were attentive but not cloying. We went with a blue cheese salad and prime rib french dip sandwich, which we split and the kitchen staff not only split both of these for us- I think they gave us extra fries because we both had sooo many!. The blue cheese salad was exceptional. If I were a local, this would become a regular place to eat- everything from the atmosphere to to the food and service was very good, and we left stuffed. The only problem we had was getting into the restaurant- it was the double doors in the middle- not the end doors. Did I mention it has lots and lots of beer on tap.

“Better than E.R. Ale House”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 June 2014

I know that both Ale houses (Palmer & Eagle River) are supposedly owned by the same folks, but I have to say that Palmer's is way out in front for a few reasons. Having been to both several times, I can offer this:
1) Location/view:
E.R. has the look and feel of a strip mall and really NO view
Palmer...go there and you'll see the difference; Pioneer Peak
2) Food just seems better in Palmer
3) Atmosphere
E.R. looks and feels like a overcrowded sports bar
Palmer...well, it looks feels like an ale house

Pizza, special fries and sandwiches are darn good with 48 draft beers to wash them all down! The Palmer Ale house has established itself as a local favorite!
