Living in Alaska gives us many benefits. One is going to Seldovia for their July 4th Celebretion.Seldovia is easily reached by tour boats, ferry, private boats or planes, but not automobiles.
We have stayed at the Boardwalk in the past and knew it had new owners again. What a surprise to see all the upgrades they have performed on this Hotel. Rooms are all upgraded, but I won't dwell on that. It is the staff that makes this hotel so charming, always availble to do whatevere they can to make your stay an enjoyable one. The food from their restaurant is wonderful, try the fish chowder, it's great.
We were in a lower floor room overlooking the boat harbor with a nice large deck outside our window. When we returned after the parade and touring the towns many shops, we were amazed to find a local string band "The Billy Goats" playing and singing on the deck just outside our window.
A couple of hours listening to this group of really talented local people that play for the fun of it.
They have won awards at the Solstice Celebration, held in June. There is also a chain saw wood carving contest later in the summer, with carvers from all over competing.
If you are coming to Alaska and the Kenai Peninsula don't miss this great hotel in a very nice location.More
