“A vacation within a vacation......”
Reviewed 13 August 2014

We had a very busy Alaskan vacation visiting friends and family in Anchorage and on the Kenai Peninsula. When we had a chance to get away to Seldovia, we jumped at the chance. Accessible only by boat or air, Seldovia is truly a place to unplug. So very rare these days to find a hotel a charming as the Boardwalk. The owners and staff provided outstanding customer service and the hospitality was exemplary. The Boardwalk coffee shop in the lobby was terrific and I heard nothing but rave reviews about the food in the dining room. Also check out the great live music, food and drinks two doors down at the Linwood Grill. We happened to be there in time to pick up the biggest Alaska blueberries I've ever seen. Charter fishing available just steps away at the Marina. We cannot wait to go back to the Boardwalk. Thank you Angela and Jeremiah!

Room Tip: Ask for the harbor view.

We stayed here because of the reviews on here. Huge mistake. Our first night, we were exhausted from traveling and looking forward to some peace and quiet and catching up on some news.....we were advised upon checking in, that our room didn't have satellite, so, no TV, even though their website states they do. The walls are so thin, we could hear every conversation that anyone was having. I had to sleep with ear plugs in, and that still didn't drown it out. Day two. My husband and I went out deep sea fishing for Halibut, had a great time, came back to our room around 6:00 PM, only to walk in and have nothing done to our room.....we had to use cold wet towels, after we showered. When we left to go eat, I advised the owner that our room had not been made up, and she said the new cleaning lady, was suppose to clean "the 2 rooms" upstairs. She then asked if we wanted clean towels.....she should not have asked, and just made sure we had them ! I realize we were in a very small, remote part of Alaska, but if your going to charge us 160.00 a night, I expect my room to be in order ! We did hear from others, that they have heard of the same issues, and actually changed hotels. Seldovia is great Halibut fishing.....so, do yourself a favor, stay at The Seldovia Fishing Adventures B&B where you get a free breakfast & reduced rate on your Halibut fishing ! We used them as our charter for Halibut fishing and they were awesome !

First and foremost as owners of the Boardwalk Hotel, the visitor experience and comfort of all of our guests is our highest priority. Since we purchased the hotel last fall and reopened it with all of the new changes and upgrades, we have had nothing but overwhelming support from our guests and the community. Unfortunately, we could not satisfy the above guest. We will do whatever we can to ensure your comfort within reason and it was unfortunate that our guests' room was not given clean towels the one time during their 3 night stay. As soon as it was brought to my attention I personally took care of the problem immediately and an apology was given. I encourage all of our guests if there is any issue to please fee free to have a RESPECTFUL conversation with hotel staff and we will do our best to accommodate your request. Our guests' comfort is our first priority.

At the Boardwalk Hotel we have set a 10 p.m. "Quiet Time", until that time we encourage conversation, laughter, relaxation, hanging out on the deck, in the lobby or restaurant with your family, children and friends. This is the atmosphere we have strived to create at the Boardwalk. A place where you can relax and enjoy the beauty and serenity of Seldovia.

So, please bring your children, laughter and family to the Boardwalk Hotel and feel free to enjoy your time in Seldovia. We hope to see you soon!

Seldovia is a true reflection of Alaska, beautiful, friendly, relaxed and real. It is easy to get to but just off the beaten path. From hiking, berry picking, kayaking, beach-combing or just relaxing it is an ideal place, made even better by the Seldovia Boardwalk Hotel. Angela and Jeremiah have created a place of warmth, sincerity and comfort where you can relax after a day of exploring. The rooms are immaculate, beds comfortable, and the food is outstanding. Check out the creative menu including incredible Seafood Chowder made from scratch every day and the fresh selection of salads and panini sandwiches. Above all else the welcome and hospitality from everyone makes this a special place. Alaskans and visitors should not miss the Seldovia Boardwalk Hotel - serene, sincere and sensational!

Room Tip: Each room is wonderful but you can't beat the view on the rooms facing the harbor.

We loved staying at the Boardwalk Hotel! Angela and her staff were most friendly and hospitable from the moment we walked in, until when we departed the next day. We were blessed with incredible weather, high 60's, and thoroughly relished this time in the quaint fishing village of Seldovia. The hotel is remodeled beautifully, the cafe on the deck-most pleasant- over looking the harbor. We could not have had a better time. We truly hope to return someday!
We took the Rainbow charter boat over, choosing the scenic route that circles over to Gull Island. We saw a spectacular show from some whales, sea otters and many birds!

Room Tip: Rooms with a view of the harbor, for sure! So pleasant to look out the window, yet feel you have pr...

We flew from Homer to Seldovia to go halibut fishing and stayed at the Boardwalk Hotel & from the moment we walked in the doors we were awed by the views. The hotel is located right on the water, has a big deck, a firepit, a pretty lobby, & friendly & helpful staff! If we ever get a chance to come back, this is definitely where we will stay!

Living in Alaska gives us many benefits. One is going to Seldovia for their July 4th Celebretion.Seldovia is easily reached by tour boats, ferry, private boats or planes, but not automobiles.

We have stayed at the Boardwalk in the past and knew it had new owners again. What a surprise to see all the upgrades they have performed on this Hotel. Rooms are all upgraded, but I won't dwell on that. It is the staff that makes this hotel so charming, always availble to do whatevere they can to make your stay an enjoyable one. The food from their restaurant is wonderful, try the fish chowder, it's great.

We were in a lower floor room overlooking the boat harbor with a nice large deck outside our window. When we returned after the parade and touring the towns many shops, we were amazed to find a local string band "The Billy Goats" playing and singing on the deck just outside our window.
A couple of hours listening to this group of really talented local people that play for the fun of it.
They have won awards at the Solstice Celebration, held in June. There is also a chain saw wood carving contest later in the summer, with carvers from all over competing.

If you are coming to Alaska and the Kenai Peninsula don't miss this great hotel in a very nice location.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the boat harbor if available.
