This special place starts with a water taxi across Kachemak Bay from Homer to MacDonald Spit, which is located about 7 miles from the small harbor town of Seldovia. The cabins on the Spit offer a view on one side of Kachemak Bay and Kasitna on the other. The cabins are adorable and cozy with all the comforts you need. Rent a kayak in Homer before heading over. The water taxi can put it on the boat. Exploring the bays and inlets is a must. If you check tides and are lucky you can dig for clams. Walking the Spit beaches will turn up many treasures. Your host is friendly and on hand for questions and anything you need. I enjoyed her sharing her art studio and seeing her projects at hand. You'll bring your own food and drink. If you want to see Seldovia there is a ride offered by a local taxi service. We got lucky with great weather and had dinner there outdoors on the deck of the Boardwalk Bar and Grill facing the marina. This trip was everything I hoped it would be and more.
Our second year. Perfect Alaskan experience w/ amenities. The decor is unique. Beautiful views and decent privacy. The owners are helpful and accommodating w/ directions, suggestions, and guest needs.
