We stayed in the family room with our two young children and it was perfect. The kids enjoyed the pool as well. At the end of our stay we were headed to homer for a few days before heading back to anchorage and the manager was very accommodating and let us keep our fish in the freezer those 2 extra days.

Been coming to Soldotna for 23 years to Salmon fish. For the longest time I rented a home until they sold the property so tried it here last year and returned again. I am in a hotel 320 nights per year every year. I know hotels. This is a 'holiday inn express' or 'Fairfield inn' style hotel. Convenience is the key here since they are centrally located. They have an indoor pool and Jacuzzi which is nice after hours spent fishing to relax your back. It is in the center of town so not much in terms of ambience or view...especially street facing rooms which have zero view.

Beds are on the soft side but rooms are very clean. Hotel is well kept. Breakfast is your standard carb fest. Flat screen tvs, laudry facility, business center...like I said a 'holiday inn express' in a town with no major chain hotels.

Like everything in AK...it's expensive. About 2 times what you would pay in most places. Long term rooms with cooking are $219 plus tax.

If you're here for the fishing than this is just fine. Safeway across the street and near Odie's (great sandwiches) and The Moose is Loose (can't miss bakery).

Room Tip: Don't face the street...no view

We didn't plan to stay here but our car broke down and got towed here. So we got a room. It's close to the Kenai River and the rooms are clean but have no A/C... now I know it's Alaska but paying $200 a night makes A/C a little guilty pleasure, alas denied. Good security and parking. Good lobby and wifi.

We came to stay at Aspen before we had planned to due to the fact the previous place we were booked in had mold.Anne was very helpful when we arrived. Helping us to pick out a room that although less expensive was better for me since they do not use harsh chemicals to clean the room. When we returned days later, when we had planned to stay, they had reserved that room for us again. The hotel has a walk-in freezer to keep your fish box before going to Anchorage Airport. David was extremely helpful in that helped my husband pack the boxes. We had to pick up up the salmon from processor that we had left after catching in Soldotna. The breakfast was very filling and good. Waffles, cereal, milk, bagels, jams, peanut butter, juice and really good coffee!! The fish walking pier behind the hotel was a pretty walk. The rooms had wi-fi that worked quickly. There are washers and dryers on premise that came in handy. The pool looked very well maintained, we did not have time to use. I would strongly recommend staying here and say Hi to Anne and David.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 106. No view but spacious, comfortable king bed.

We stayed here for one night after driving down from a cruise that ended in Whittier before our flight over to Lake Clark National Park the next morning. The staff was very friendly and the check-in process was quick. The beds were comfortable, the air smelled fresh in the room and everything was clean. The only downside to the hotel was no eating choices within the hotel but there are several places within walking distance so it wasn't really a problem.

This place was fine. We had a room with two queens. Clean, loved the soap, and you can buy it at the desk. Sicilian Orange fragrance! Nice touch. Guest laundry, micro, TV, fridge coffee maker, breakfast provided. All of these things make a place appealing. We were interested in the spa and pool! The pool and spa are not in working order!
Across the road there is a Safeway, pharmacy and liquor store. Be careful, not many crosswalks!

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of our Aspen Hotel on Tripadvisor. I'm glad you enjoyed the amenities our hotel has, and I apoligize for the pool and spa not being open during your time with us. Sometimes mechanical issues arise, that takes more time in Alaska to receive the parts we need to get everything back up and running.

I am pleased to tell you our pool and spa are in working order, and I hope the next time you are staying at our hotel, you will be able to enjoy both of these amenities also. We are glad you enjoyed the Taracco Sicilian Orange Amenities in the room. The gift sets we sell at the front desk are a favorite at Christmas Time.

Thank you again for letting us and the Tripadvisor visitors know how we are doing. You have a wonderful day!

We've just retuned from a visit to Alaska to welcome our new grandchild. We were pleased with every aspect of the Aspen Hotel. A highlight for us was sharing pool time with the "big brothers" (3 & 5) The pool and hot tub are very clean - the depth (3-5 ft) is good for enjoying with children - adults can stand and assist. The pool does close for periodic maintenance, so if it is important for your stay, be sure to ask if it will be open when you reserve your room. We also found the location convenient for taking day trips to Ninilchik, Homer, Cooper Landing and Kenai.

Room Tip: When making your reservation, ask for a room on the river side. It's lovely to open the window...
