We stayed here because other accommodations were full. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The complimentary continental breakfast was below par with some of the worst coffee I ever tasted. The rooms that face the road get too hot with the window closed and are too noisy with the window open. Black-it blinds are inadequate.

Nevertheless, there's a table behind the building for cleaning fish and a river walk that is very pleasant.

This place is perfectly OK but nothing special.

Room Tip: Chose a room on the back side, away from the road.

We recently came back from an 18 day stay in Alaska and one of our stops was the Aspen Hotel in Soldotna, Alaska. We were leaving the next morning for a flight over to a remote place called Silver Salmon Lodge to go bear watching. The hotel was very nice for what we needed. It was very close to the few local restaurants in the small town and we got some fast food and came back to the hotel. The price was reasonable and it was clean. We would stay there again if we went back. What made it interesting was they were fighting a huge forest fire a few miles away on the Kenai Peninsula and there was smoke everywhere, it had gone on for several weeks and still was not totally under control. It was raining and we were lucky to be able to fly out the next morning.

Upon check-in we were greeted with awesome kindness and very informative of all amenities. Room was very clean, breakfast was good, and I loved every bit of our stay. Great place! I would definitely stay there when I return to Soldotna.

Avoid any rooms next to the pool. The kids are of course loud and having fun. We looked at a room that was available on the first floor but unfortunately it was right next to the pool and we heard all the noisy kids playing in the pool and running up and down the hall. Hotel looked a little old and kinda outdated but it was okay.

Room Tip: Avoid first floor by the pool. Kids are loud and run up and down the hall.

Made a reservation the day we flew in and they had a nice room accommodation. It was better than I expected, actually. Bed was comfy (king) and clean. Shower was nice and hot and also clean; and they serve breakfast and have a pool to lounge in. They also have an exercise room. Its within walking distance to the Safeway or The other big store where you can get supplies. Close to the river too.
The feel of the rooms is modern and spacious ( at least the one we stayed in) and I found it nice. The bed was separated from the kitchenette by a breakfast bar type counter and full cabinets.

Room Tip: There seemed to be no AC in the unit and it was a warm day in Alaska. Our room was really stuffy so...

Stayed here last month as I was doing pre construction cell site walks in the area. Very few good motels in the area, and this time of the year it's going to cost you a pretty penny - fishing and tourist season in the region.
Obtained a suite and was pleasantly surprised. Two rooms, spacious, 3/4 kitchen, decent furniture (though the room could have used an easy chair), desk/work station, flat screen T.V.'s in both rooms, large bathrooms, comfortable bed, plenty of cooking utensils, pots and pans.
Staff was friendly and helpful, grounds were well kept. Motel has a full indoors heated pool and hot tub, offers a decent continental breakfast, though for the price they could have offered a lot more. I've paid less per day for a four star.

Room Tip: Rooms at the second floor rear offer a river view.

We have stayed at the Aspen Hotel Soldotna multiple times. It is the newest and nicest hotel in town, with clean, comfortable rooms. Nothing very fancy. Their breakfast is quite basic, but does the job (making your own waffles is fun and easy); it would be nice if they added a few more things, like yogurt. The rooms do not have AC, so they can get quite warm during the summer.

The staff has always been very friendly and accommodating, which is the most important thing. The pool is clean and the hot tub is a nice way to relax after a long day. The location is great, which walking distance to Safeway, The Moose is Loose, the park, the river, and many other locations.

Room Tip: Rooms on the river side are quieter, but harder to get.
