We had the best Alaska Fishing Adventure! We stayed at the Soldotna B & B Lodge for 8 nights. Steve & Monika took care of every detail. When we arrived we received our list of fishing charters for the week. Halibut fishing out of Homer, King Salmon on the Kenai, fly fishing for Trout on the Kenai, etc. All the charters were set up with professional, knowledgeable and fun to be with guides. We caught fish...lots of fish...and had a great time! After we got off our boat charters we fished for Sockeye off the dock behind the Lodge. That was a ton of fun and we were able to catch our limit most days. The Lodge took care of cleaning, vacuum packing and freezing our fish, then packed it in boxes for us to take home. We took some on the plane and some they sent out for us Fed Ex. Our room had a great view of the Kenai River. It was very clean, decorated nicely, had a comfortable bed and a vanity sink which was very convenient. The bathroom & shower rooms were just next door. We never had to wait to use them and they were always very clean. For breakfast there was a hot option and always a plentiful variety of breads, pastries, fruit and my favorite muesli. I never had it before and now I am a fan. I even tried to make it when I got home, but it wasn't as good as Monika and Sara's. I'll keep trying. We would love to do this trip again someday. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

In July my adult son and I made our fourth pilgrimage to the Soldotna B & B Lodge. What a fantastic experience. Steve & Monica have thought of everything we needed to have a perfect fishing vacation, combined with an "experience Alaska" time. The B & B facilities are modern and comfortable, the guides Steve books are very skilled and friendly, and the location is perfect. We shipped 155 lbs. of fish home. Alaska is a really wonderful state; we have been to other parts of the Kenai and the rest of Alaska, but we will return to Steve & Monica. Oh, and Sara's eggs benedict are to die for!

Room Tip: Let Steve & Monica pick your room. They know their business. I have never been disappointed.

A true Alaskan experience. We've been coming for years for salmon season. Stayed all over the Kenai area and up through Coopers Landing. My truest disappointment is not discovering this B&B sooner. Here's a list of what you can expect:
*Fishing directly in the back of the property, with plenty of room and friendly guests.
*Outstanding staff ready to serve every need, and provide meals.
*Walking distance to local restaurants, sporting supplies, fast food, and a lounge.
*Scenic routes to run for miles, cool air, beautiful weather.
*Top notch charters arranged on site, no guest comes back empty handed.
*All fish can be processed, traded, packed immediately on site...no need to go anywhere else.
***The best of all, however, is the atmosphere and staff running this operation. Monica and Steve won't let you down, and the family becomes your own. I don't even like to visit my family, but can't wait to see them again and again. This is the most private oasis, and hate to let the secret out, but don't take my word...SEE for yourself.

Thanks for soooo many wonderful years of service, I'm sad to leave again, but looking forward to next year.

That stand of trees on the left area of the photo is now a retirement home under construction. The bottom of the photo is positioned to avoid showing the apartments located there. But then you're probably not coming for the location. The "lodge" is in the middle of town so at least it's easy to get to. And while yes, you CAN fish from the riverbank, the conditions make it realistically pointless. Not a warm and cozy kind of place, rather all about the bottom dollar. Dated. Just an odd atmosphere, almost as if the staff had been instructed not to speak to the guests unless necessary.Tours are the big business here, and if you’re looking for a hub to base activities for driving near and far then this will do as I can highly commend the guides we worked with. But if you're just booking a couple of days without multiple tours, don't expect much in the way of service. We learned a lot about how things work there awaiting check out, while the proprietor was imparting details we never received to an arriving weeklong guest. You can book your own tours and change lodging every couple of days to be nearby; or you can drive a couple hours or more to and from the lodge for daily tours and pay the significant upcharges to let the proprietor handle your reservations. It's all about knowing what you want, although the proprietor proudly boasts how much better HE knows what you need. Harrumph.

All we can say is that we do really care about our guests' experience here. We are just sorry that for some people we do not hit it right.

We even have a staff member whose primary role is to entertain guests and fulfill most requests that they could possibly make. He works most afternoons through late evening when the most guests are likely to be at the lodge.

We commercially vacuum packed and froze this guest’s fish in our walk-in freezer for their convenience. They would have had to take it somewhere else otherwise. That is a service that MOST lodges/fishing guides do not offer.

Most guests appreciate our organized all inclusive packages because of the convenience and quality of our guides. We never force anyone to do anything they do not want! How could we? In fact, more often then not, we are busy trying to accommodate last minute guest requests for schedule changes.

We just wish we were able to make everyone that enters our door as happy as most of our guests; however, realistically, that is not possible.

My father and three brothers just returned from our Alaska fishing adventure. The service at the Lodge was simply amazing. Turn key. The rooms are kept very clean, the food is made to order (Monika or Sara) and Steve has the fishing trips lined up with great guides who know the business. We fished multiple different species in different locations. I seriously doubt there is a better operation and place to stay on the Kenai Penninsula.

We arrived as a group of four fishermen (3 men and one 15 year old novice) scheduled four days of fishing on the Kenai Peninsula looking to land Halibut and Salmon. I researched lodging and charter options using the internet and found Soldotna Bed & Breakfast listed on TripAdvisor.com and after several email exchanges we booked our fishing trip. Our first charter was Bering Sea for Halibut the most perfect day one could ask for, no wind and calm seas. After 2.5 hours boat ride with Willie and Bill to their hot spot and we had our limits by noon. Day two Kings on the Kenai River, two kings landed, Greg was a great guide made sure our novice fisherman was well attended after. Third day we requested last minute charter change from Bering Sea to Kenai River - Kings and Sockeyes which Steve with diligent efforts was able to pull off for us as novice fishermen was very sea sick on Monday. Last day we fished with guide Joe who is a very knowledgeable guide and put us on one fine hen over 50 pounds since we caught several Kings all week we release her in hopes she would make it to the spawning grounds. Don’t know about my other fishing buddies but I’m coming back with my better half real soon. I highly recommend Soldotna Bed & Breakfast an Alaska vacation destination.

My husband and I just returned from our 8-day vacation in Alaska - six days on the Kenai Peninsula and 2 days in and around Anchorage. I had researched lodging and charter options using the internet and TripAdvisor.com prior to booking our vacation. After corresponding with Steve Anderson, both via phone calls and email messages, I purchased the "Guys and Dolls" package at Alaska Fishing Lodge/Soldotna Bed and Breakfast Lodge. It was an absolutely FABULOUS trip - one that ranks at the top of my favorite vacations. The accommodations were warm and welcoming. Our room was immaculate, bed was comfortable, balcony view of the Kenai River was spectacular! Steve and Sarah were outstanding host and hostess - always eager to hear about our day and to share in our excitement. The personal attention to our needs was more than appreciated. I fell in love with the lodge and with Steve and Sarah, and I and truly want to return another year. We caught our limit of King Salmon and Halibut, and had a very surreal experience communing with God's creation during our fly-out trip to Crescent Lake - truly breathtaking scenery (and HUGE lake trout). I have already given the website address to three of our friends who asked for information after seeing our vacation photos posted on FaceBook. By the way - if you like breakfast, you'll love Sarah's cooking. Thumbs UP - BIG TIME!!!!!

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony view of the Kenai River - GORGEOUS!!!
