“Nice Hotel - Good Value”
Reviewed 3 September 2013

This was a nice hotel with a huge lobby. The hotel more than meets western standards. I thought it a good value at $818 RMB ($US136). Breakfast buffet was very good, bu expensive at $147 RMB ($US 24.50). I was here on business.

Hotel is OK. Functional, but not very comforting.

English at the front desk is a roll of the dice. Some personnel understand and some don't.

Wifi signal is fine in the lobby and in the hallways, but did not extend into the room. There is ethernet (free) in the room. Television signal was very fuzzy (possibly an issue with using DISH satellite in a city with high smog?) Has English TV channels including HBO and CNN. Room was functional, but numerous scuffs and chunks missing from the walls. View of the inner courtyard was depressing. I noted that when leaving, the door will close but not latch unless I pull it fully shut, so please pay attention.

Breakfast buffet is a highlight. Nice variety.

I would stay again if the language was not as much of a barrier for non-Mandarin speakers, but for me personally it just overall wasn't a good fit.

Room Tip: Make sure you check for wifi signal in the room before you unpack. You may want to change rooms if t...

overall, this hotel was quite a good value, especially compared to USA hotel prices. not a lot of fun, not very "sexy", but totally sufficient.
First, the breakfast. mostly Chinese, w/ fried rice, noodles, soup, steamed buns and dumplings, etc. absolutely fantastic, compared to Western continental breakfasts and so-so breakfast buffets.
staff were welcome and accommodating.
limited english, but they were very willing to help, especially when i had my Mandarin phrase book handy. (iron, electrical outlet adapter, etc.)
convenient for the light rail but not much going on nearby, besides a large shiny shopping mall.
fine for business in the TEDA / Taida area, but it would be virtually impossible to stay here and go sight-seeing in downtown Tianjin.
room overlooked a small (but not very beautiful) courtyard.

This hotel is located near the Binhai International Convention & Exhibition Center, the place where conferences usually take place. It can be easily reached by foot which makes this hotel a first choice for conference or business travelers in Binhai Tianjin. Don't be confused on google maps when searching for it. It is the one which is "unconfirmed" in Tianjin Binhai, not the one in Tianjin city. Rooms are OK, sometimes a bit noisy. Breakfast is very good, but check twice what time it is served. Bottom line: good hotel for business travelers

Located opposite the football stadium. Taxis are hard to come by and you have to walk all the way to the main road to get one.

Used their laundry room. Purchased 3 tokens and 2 were wasted due to machine malfunction. Called for electrician and he said similar incident happened before. He switched on the electricity supply and used my last token to start the washer.

Front desk manager refused to refund the 2 tokens and said since hotel's staff was not around to see me slot in the token they cannot verify I have slotted in the tokens. She reiterated machines are in good condition and seldom have this prpblem. I repeated what the electrician said but he suddenly did a about-turn and said he did not tell me such a thing.

What a crappy hotel.

The cafe also over-charge for their meals. All the advertisements stated each set meal was RMB28 but waiters will collect RMB38 from customers.
