Description: In 1902, an Italian settlement was located in Tianjin, in the city center, along the river Hebei; after the Second World War, the Italian residents of this area returns to his homeland, leaving empty the citadel Italian. In 1999, the Tianjin Municipality has decided to cooperate with Italy, creating the first area in China dedicated exclusively to the development of tourism, culture, architecture, and the Made in Italy; the project took shape in 2002 and started with the renovation of the buildings. Shortly before the Beijing Olympics in 2008, Mr. Renato Pegoraro, an Italian coming from Veneto's generations (region of northern Italy) and resident for many years in China, after the constant insistence of many local friends who love Italian style, he decided to create a small oasis of traditional Italian flavors by calling it the place Venezia Club Italian Restaurant & Winery located in the Italian Style Town and until today still is the only one restaurant in the city of Tianjin with the Italian owner. The restaurant is located in the heart of the Former Italian Concession Area, in the middle of the main road, in a completely renovated building that recalls the Italian Liberty and the Italian Art Deco architectural style of the early 1900s; inside every room has differently enviroments in the classic Italian style, with ornaments, photo and objects rare and unique. The menu includes many dishes of traditional Italian home cooking: homemade pasta, pizza, grilled meat, stews and roasts, as well as having a wide selection of cold-cuts and cheeses imported from Italy. The wine list includes a wide range of wines from many Italian regions, from the most precious Barolo, Barbaresco and Brunello di Montalcino to the most popular Chianti and Lambrusco. The Venice Club Italian Restaurant & Winery has got the "Ospitalita' Italiana" Quality Certification issued by the Italian Chamber of Commerce for the real and traditional Italian food and beverages, for the original imported raw materials, and for the Italian Style environment; moreover it was the first foreign restaurant in Tianjin certificated by the Chinese Government with the "Three National Diamonds" for the high quality of the food, the security and the cleaning of the place. In 2012, it was open the second Italian Restaurant in Bestown, a small ancient town close the Tanggu's seaside area.

“Darn good pasta”
Reviewed 2 March 2013

Had the Amatriciana, Carbonara and the Seafood Gnocchi. Portions are very small (hence he third dish), but the pastas were fantastic, especially the Gnocchi. I would highly recommend it. It was so good I'm still thinking about it.

Carbonara was served with fresh pasta (perfect) and the Amatriciana al dente (just the way I like it). Couldn't tell if the Amatriciana was real cured beef cheek (might have been some other cured meat, but still fantastic).

Was served by the manager, some chinese lady (Sophie?). Her service was way beyond par and she spoke good english.

The wines by the glass are 60kuai, but if you're eating here you know this place isn't cheap.

CONS: Bit expensive, but worth it. Mozzarella was not made that day but still tasted great. But can't think of anything else. My red wine was served a tad cold, but it was in the middle of Tianjin winter, so didn't think twice about it.

“Sometimes you're lucky”
Reviewed 3 February 2013

We had gone on a day trip to Tianjin just to wander around and see what we saw. We planned to end up the the Italian Town for dinner and just picked this place because it seemed nice. We were very lucky. It was a cold evening and the restaurant was a warm haven. The server spoke some english and ordering easy. There were three of us and we all thought the food was excellent. Not sure what else there is available here, but I would definitely recommend this if you are in the area.

“The comfort of reliable food”
Reviewed 31 January 2012

I have been to Venezia many times during my stay here in Tianjin. It has been very reliable for me in quality. Many places on this street open with big fanfare then in six months scale back the quality but Venezia keep's it constant.

The menu ranges from pasta to steaks. Imported meats from Oz or New Zealand. This is real Northern Italian cooking and not the Chinese version of Italian. You will get authenticity here. Recently they have opened a small wine shop inside.

Each level of the restaurant has a different look and feel. I recommend reservations on the weekends.

The staff speaks English and Chinese.

Finish off with Grappa infused espresso.

Its a good place for the international crowd to get good food.
