The best thing about this resort is the location as it is located right in front of the beach and you get to have a very good view of it from the room too. But the other part is 1) Bathroom: I must admit there is a lot of wear n tear and has to be redone 2) A/C: just meets the expectation, but doesn't cool the room enough 3) Food: has to be improved in both quality and quantity. Such a good resort could have been the best one with the above fixed...

Some Palmshore was a nice stay for us, as it allowed us to enjoy the stretch of shops and restaurants nearby, but be away from too much noise. We stayed in a private cottage, which is too be recommended as the main building is not the most charming. The cottage was a bit rustique, but overall pleasant and value-for-money. The beach reaches the hotels gardens and has a lifeguard there at all times ( or he comes down when he sees you going there). Restaurant was fine, served on the lawn and breakfast was served in front of our cottage on the shared veranda, which has a view over the palm gardens and sea.
We very much enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: Choose a (private) cottage as the main building is not very charming :)

This hotel gives indian kinda feeling. we got a warm welcome from hotel staff and we were overjoyed with their response :). the building seems to old but they have all the facilities like swimming pool, Private beach, spa, restaurant, gardens etc.
Our room was nice and clean. Nice view of sea from balcony. The only drawback was a small refrigerator provided in the room. it was too old that we never tried to touch it.
Hotel has its own shop of herbal products.
Restaurant was nice and they have almost everything on their menu. Restaurant staff was nice and always there for help. Sounds of sea waves comes all the time. Buffet breakfast was great with plenty of items.
The beach is private owned by hotel. it means outside people not allowed. we spent some very special moments at this place.
It was a great place to end our trip to Kerala.... :)

We stayed at the palmshore for 3 nights in march and generally enjoyed our stay. The hotel although up a hill was in a good position with lovely views from our room, but the room itself was a disapointment as it was a bit tired and contained a fridge so old and rusty that you wouldn't even put a bottle of beer in it.On our first night the electric went down so the generater kicked in and was so loud that at 3am we were woken up and it stayed on for 4 hours. On the plus side the breakfast was good and the people friendly and we found some good restaurants nearby, and soon got used to drinking beer out of a cup.

We stayed at the Soma Palmshore for 2 weeks with a short break while we travelled by rail to Ooty. We loved the ambience of this hotel. If you are looking for a typical chain hotel this is probably not for you. The Soma has character and a very Indian feel which, as travellers from England, was what we wanted. We found the staff very friendly and helpful and our deluxe room, although not luxurious was spacious and clean with a very comfortable king size bed. Details like the old fridge let it down and we would have liked either BBC world or CNN on the flat screen TV. The bathroom had a very efficient shower with hot water at all times from our own heater.
The view from our balcony was gorgeous - palm trees, a well kept garden, and an almost private beach with the sound of waves crashing on the sand. The pool was a decent size, the water quality was checked regularly, and there was an ample supply of towels.
Breakfast was fine for us as we only require fruit, juice, toast and tea and all of these were available but there were plenty of other local dishes to choose from. We only ate an evening meal in the hotel once but it was very good. The proximity of many restaurants along the main beach meant that we could eat good quality meals somewhere different most nights.
You do have to be prepared to walk uphill to the Soma but we managed it and we are 'seniors'. It helped to walk off the rotis and naans anyway.
After our few days travelling on the railways it was wonderful to return to this lovely relaxing hotel.

My stay at Soma was at the last leg of my Kerala trip & I stayed there for 2 days.
First the positives...
Location: the access to the private sort of beach is a wonderful experience. It is peaceful, clean U can enjoy the sea as well the sunset and spend a good time on the beach...
The Hospitality: the hotels staff & their service was excellent. They really serve you with a smile and are polite and highly accomodating to ensure you have a memorable stay...
Food was amazing.. n we really enjoyed the sea side view of the restaurant..

The negative: Rooms.. i stayed in their cottage & deluxe room & i must say these were the worst rooms I came across in my entire stay in Cochin, Munnar, Trivandrum. Its as if u are staying in a 4 star property with neat ambience.. excellent view n wonderful food and hospitality & the moment you enter the room u end up in a cheap guest house.

I also checked at other properties around this hotel n found that rooms in Soma were actually were below standard and way to highly priced...

Had it been for the room I would not have stayed in the hotel for 1 night but the access to beach for which I was in Kovalam made me stay there for 2 nights...

My request to the hotel owners is to completely renovate the rooms ... it will make this hotel The most recommended place to stay...

Stayed here for a couple of nights at the end of a tour. Reception staff not very friendly and quite sombre as were most of the staff overall. One positive is that we were allocated a private cottage which had a lovely outlook on the grounds and the sea/beach. The room itself was fairly small and a bit shabby as was the bathroom. The breakfast spread was very poor little choice in comparison to other hotels on our tour and food overall looked mediocre. Didn’t eat here for lunch or dinner as there are plenty of bars/restaurants five minutes’ walk away down on Lighthouse Beach and the onsite seafood restaurant was closed. The “private beach” is down the bottom of the property and is fairly pleasant (although you have to negotiate a lot of steep steps) The pool was never crowded during our stay and we took the occasional dip.
The hotel is laid out on a number of floors and stands on a steep hill. Consequently this hotel is not recommended for anyone with mobility issues as there are a lot of steps to negotiate from beach and pool and no lift. Also the walk down to Lighthouse beach is down a steep hill. I would recommend one restaraunt to try which was down on Lighthouse beach...called Fusion. It was always busy (which speaks for itself) and the food was very good.
Overall experience was ok for a couple of nights but would probably not go back.
