I had been to this hotel in jan 2014.
I would prefer to stay in this hotel again.
Location very good.
You can just go & jump in sea ,enjoy it get back in swimming pool followed by breakfast ,lunch, dinner ,what so ever.
I have travelled too many countries & would advise people to stay in this hotel.

Room Tip: look for rooms facing swimming pool or facing sea.

Location is good, thats the positives dealt with.
The staff are surly and disinterested. The room we had was a deluxe one with sea view costing around R4000 a night. The only view of the sea was if you leaned over the wall at the end of the balcony. The bathroom was filthy, dirty paintwork, cobwebs, broken mirror, shower that you had to hold in your hand and free toilletries which consisted of a wafer thin sliver of soap. The air con unit was old and noisy and there were lots of issues with dodgy wiring. Having toured India extensively over the past 20 years I appreciate that these are common enough issues but not in the 4000 a night range. Oh, and no WiFi.
We booked in for 5 nights but only stayed 1 and wouldn't have suffered that had it not been fairly late when we arrived. The other 4 nights we spent at the Orion Hotel, on the seafront near to the lighthouse. The room was 3 times bigger, far cleaner with a fridge and a balcony which had a beach and sea view to die for. R1750 per night.
Do not be fooled by reports that Propper Crappy is in the best location. Do not believe that the staff are friendly, they cannot be bothered and don't care about your happiness.
Please, just look for somewhere else to stay.

Room Tip: Go to a different hotel

Location was perfect for strolling on the beach area. The resort rear gate leads to the beautiful beach. ...The room was spacious and clean enough - Total Value for money. Staff are very friendly. At evening time they get beverage and food to the beach side and serve.

Room Tip: If you like to stay near beach side then this is the best place.

hallucination created at sunset & after 9:30pm when all street light goes off,it becomes the gods world where no sound except the sea & no lights except the moon prevailed the surroundings. rooms are spacious & clean.Swimming pool is well maintained.at the time we visited roof top restaurant was under construction.

Room Tip: room on the 2nd floor towards the beach is the best one.

One of the best place to stay in kovalam. Although people reviewed badly. It is the finest property to stay on hawa beach. You can hear sound of sea from your room. Good view. Good food. Good atmosphere. And very good swimming pool. Although staff is some what rude. Because of language problem. But when you have all the nature on your doorstep why you need to worry for small things.

Contrary to the many adverse reports i must say that pappukutty beach resort is worth the money you pay for a room. The manager himself attended to my minor "complaints". I must say that the hotel guests need to be more refined and follow the hotels rules with regard to dress code in the swimming pool. Pathetic lot of people were in the pool with anything that will cover their nudity. I dont understand why we need a lock to the bathroom door which opens into your hotel room? I agree with Vrajesh that the reception/front office requires more training.
Anyway to all whiners, go and stay in leela or taj if you want royal service. What can you expect from a rs. 3800 room when compsred to Rs25000 room at leela kempinski? Stop whininh. It is the indian tourists that always whine? In kerala the language is malayalam. In mumbai thry talk to you in marathi.

Room Tip: Choose rooms on first floor.
