“Great view, tasty food, fair price !”
Reviewed 20 July 2014 via mobile

Curry leaf is located above nice and a bit secluded beach which makes it one of the best locations in Kovalam.

During your meal you see basically palm trees , white sand and the ocean.

The food is very tasty. We had a paneer makhani which was very good and preety big and a very very tasty Keralan fish grilled in a banana leaf. Definitely would recommend both and especially the second one.

Price was decent for this quality and quantity of food ( around 300 for the fish).

They also offer free pick up service if you don't feel like walking

“Affordable and delicious”
Reviewed 25 June 2014 via mobile

We had our dinner and lunch at this awesome place. If we had few more days to stay we would be going back for more at this restaurant. The seasoning was great and tasty.. felt they cooked our order with love and care. Presentation texture and taste is excellent. We left the place feeling full and happy. It has a beautiful view and we enjoyed every bite as we gazed far into the Indian Ocean. We gonna go back next time..
Staff is friendly and experienced. Good job guys....

“Fantastic view, bad food”
Reviewed 25 June 2014

The Curry Leaf has a fantastic top angle view of the Leela beach and its amazing to sit at the restaurant and enjoy the breeze gushing through your hair.

Since we were in Kovalam during off season we found the owner strolling at the beach and he personally took us to the restaurant. He was a nice guy who seemed to be managing everything from cooking to serving on his own.

But the food really was very basic, we opted for the chicken masala and the Fish Porichatto, both were lacking flavour and taste - something we realized even more when we got a taste of Local Kerala cuisine when we went to Trivandrum.

He also tried offering us a deal on "fresh prawns" at quite the same rate as we would get it at Leela and volunteered to get us a discount on the Poovar trip. Glad we chose both options through our hotel only.

I would give this place a miss for meals, but recommend if you want a quick beer and snack with truck loads of sea breeze,

“The Curry Leaf a super find in Kovalam”
Reviewed 22 April 2014

The Curry Leaf is more of a café then a restaurant in our view. We found this place quite by accident whilst walking/ exploring the stretch of beach by the Samudra hotel. Our first visit was their Keralan evening. When booking we were promised a free tut-tut to ferry us across the path towards the restaurant at night which was poorly lit. This arrived on time outside our hotel, The Leela. The traditional meal was served on plantain leaves. The meal consisted of lentils, fish, a meat dish, a veg dish, chapatis and a rice dessert. The meal was delicious. Following that visit we ate lunch there on several occasions. We ate snacks or fish curries, and tasty breads, all freshly and beautifully prepared. Excellent and welcoming service. The access was up a cliff path which could be a problem for people with limited mobility. Otherwise a lovely location. All round a great find. Dinner cost about £10 a head including a drink. Lunch cost £5 including a drink.

“Best view in Kovalam”
Reviewed 1 April 2014

This restaurant has only been open 6 months but is one of the best in town. We had our best meals here on our visit to Kovalam March 2014. The vegetarian dishes are superb and the portion sizes are huge. The view from the top level is simply the best view in Kovalam. Sadly this restaurant is not suitable for people who have mobility problems as you have to climb quite steep 'steps' up the hillside of Samudra Beach. The huge plate of Paneer Butter Masala was delicious.
