“Amazing location, close to all Canggu has to offer”

We regularly travel to Bali and have previously stayed in resorts in Seminyak. Due to the increasing noise and busy traffic we decided to experience our holiday in a private villa.
We chose Villa Shamira as our friends previously stayed there.Located in Canggu perfect for us as it was much more chilled than Seminyak. Great Shops, restuarants and local Warungs. We were not disappointed
The Villa is stunning, decked out in whites and blues, open air and a wonderful pool and sunbathing area. We were meet at Denpasar airport so we did not need transfers or to locate property.Staff greeted us on arrival taking bags and settling us into our rooms. All rooms were spacious, clean and many had doors opening onto private balconies. The master bedroom has a private ensuite with a huge bath and also outdoor sitting area.Great for a morning coffee. The downstairs bathroom is recently renovated and close to the pool .Wayan prepared beautiful
meals for us. As is the normal you must advise meals required in advance as staff will purchase all ingredients fresh from the local markets for your dinner partys ,breakfast lunch ,dinner or snacks. All staff were very discreet but never far when you needed them. If you are needing peace and privacy the manicured gardens and stunning balinese plants will provide this. Treated ourselves to many treatments at Gold Dust spa,5 mins walk away and returned feeling very relaxed. Drivers for day trips and to restuarants etc can be arranged for you.

Six friends and I had the most wonderful time staying at Villa Shamira. The Villa is spacious and beautiful - with lovely Balinese features merging with modern luxury. The gardens are gorgeous and the pool is huge - lots of room for fun and games after some serious laps! It is very quiet and peaceful and yet close to the beach and the great restaurants and shops in Canggu. All the staff are very friendly and helpful and the Villa was kept spotlessly clean during our stay. The head housekeepers, two beautiful Balinese ladies Wayan and Nengah, were so helpful and fun and cooked the most amazing meals.
Highly recommended! We will certainly be back next year!!

Our stay at the Shamira Villa was amazing. We could walk to all the great restaurants Canggu has to offer. It's walking distance to my favourite surf break and to the Golddust Spa.
Tucked away from the noisy main roads and very secure and super clean. Fast Wifi.

The set up of the house is amazing. So many spaces to hang out. Tropical gardens, huge pool, big enough to do decent laps. My favourite is the huge outdoor bathroom.
Aircon and mosquito nets in all bedrooms. Friendly staff and the house owner looked well after us. Definitely want to come back and can highly recommend it.

“Family Christmas in Canggu”
Reviewed 11 January 2016 for a stay in December 2015

We booked the villa for the Christmas/ New Year period and were not disappointed. In our group were two children (3 and 5), 3 grandparents, and my wife and I, and we had no problem with space and never felt on top of each other.

I think it’s important to point out though, that while the villa suited us fine, it may not appeal to everyone. I say this because the villa shows its age. Furnishings, while beautiful, are certainly showing wear; paint peeling; a number of power outages in various rooms/ areas of the villa; and other items one would expect for a place that is due for an upgrade and renovation. With that said, we felt it added to the ‘homey’ feel and charm of the villa. We are not ones who are for ‘clean lines and modern’ feeling like we are in a new build museum, particularly with kids in tow. The bedrooms have an old Italian farmhouse/ rustic charm about them, which we appreciated. We felt like we were at home in the villa and not a rental.

The location of the villa is perfect. You are no more than a 10 minute walk to the beach and 50m from restaurants, pubs, pharmacy, and bottle shop. Everything is literally on your doorstep. If you’ve never been to Bali before, Canggu is however, a good 45-60 minutes drive from the airport, despite being only 20 or so km away. Given that, we would probably not stay here (Canggu) if only coming for a long-weekend.

Staff: the staff were attentive and provided a good level of service. Breakfast of fresh fruit, eggs, toast, and coffee was ready every morning at 830. Same for lunch, and dinner if you want. The food was delicious and they provide a menu of dishes to select from. While having our food prepared was a nice convenience, you do need to sort it all out the day before. We don’t like to plan much but you will need to with regards to sorting out meals. Often times, we ended up going out or getting delivery from many of the local restaurants. Again, suited us fine.

We also had a driver for an added cost of around $25/ day. We didn’t use him everyday but for the price, it was nice to know he was there for any needs. We did use the transport for a few market and temple outings. The driver is not a tour guide however, so don’t expect much for recommendations or answering many questions.

Pool: the pool is a good size and get sun from early morning until around 4pm. If you have little ones, bear in mind they won’t be able to stand in the shallow end.

Location: 9/10
Space: 10/10
Condition: 7/10 (beautiful in our opinion but won’t meet expectations of some)
Staff: 8/10
Food: 8/10
Grounds: 8/10

Bathrooms: 7/10 (main bathroom is a 10/10)
Sun: All day. Sunset views from rooftop
Wifi: Yes. Can be Intermittent
Cable TV: Yes with a good selection of channels
Music: Bose sound system with connection (headphone/ analog jack) for any device
Security: Yes. There is a night time security guard

Ideal for families: Yes. (keep in mind about the pool)
Ideal for groups: Yes
Would we stay here again? If we were to come to Canggu again, yes.
Recommend: Yes but with the caveats mentioned.

Note: we booked the property through the fantastic team at Good Living Asia. (who, by the way, can get you wholesale rate wine)

We, a group of 11 enjoyed our stay at the Shamira recently and were very, very sad to leave. Words simply can't describe how beautiful this residence is. And to add to this, the staff are amazing. So willing to assist any way they can whilst staying in the background and you didn't even know they were there at times. The decor and furnishing are stunning. The house itself seems to tell a story of its past. There are numerous books and cds and plenty of break out places to take yourself away if you need some alone time. We loved everything about the Shamira and are hoping to return in the future.

How easy was it to book the property?
Liked best: Everything but probably the homely opulent feel of the house
Liked least: Had a little trouble with the toilets flushing

I cant rate Villa Shamira highly enough; the surroundings, decor, staff, pool, rooms, everything lived up to my expectations and beyond.
In our party were my 2 girls ages 1 and 4 and they absolutely loved the pool and chilling out in the tv room of an evening watching a film.
The staff were fantastic and a trip to Kuta, Seminyak and Ubub to the money forest is highly recommend; as well as Echo Beach just up the road for BBQ dinner.
Cant wait to return x

We spent a week at Shamira and it was the most relaxed I have felt for years and years. We had a group of 6 adults and 3 children. The rooms were so beautifully opulent and the interior styling was lovely. We all particularly loved the downstairs outdoor shower.
The location in the midst of betu balong was amazing- a great cheap massage place 30 seconds stroll from shamira and so many great cafés all the way along JŁ betu balong.
The staff at the shamira were absolutely lovely- nothing was too much trouble.
Would highly recommend the shamira to anyone looking for a truly indulgent relaxing holiday.
