Description: We use as much as possible organic fruit and vegetables and wash them in purified water. Ice cubes are made of mineral water and we fry our gluten free Tacos and Corn Chips several times daily in cholesterol free Coconut Oil ! Enjoy your dinner ( we also have Vegetarian options) with great cocktails and sub-zero cooled beers served in a ice-bucket, in our unique and amazing Mexican cactus garden. Unlike many other restaurants, most of our food ingredients are imported from Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, Europe and the United States and therefore subject to high import taxes and transportation costs. But we are still able to prepare large, delicious meals for a very moderate price. Our team hopes to welcome you soon in " LA MEXICANA " all week from 4pm-10pm.

“Real food in Bali.”
Reviewed 12 May 2014

As locals our family have been here 3 times in the past three weeks and it just seems to get better. I wasn't expecting much when we walked in first time, because I was feeling so over the rash of really crap-standard (mainly Aussie-owned) eateries which have sprung up all over the Canggu-Echo Beach area in the past few years pretending to be bona fide eateries. Recently, as ever longer streams of lemmings on motorbikes clutching surfboards bowl over the locals in their rush to discover the "Echo Beach" of Martha and the Muffins fame, (someone please tell them it's actually based on a beach in Canada) it seems every man - or now woman, and her dog has opened a pseudo-vegetarian hole in the wall, based it would appear entirely on the moral premise that a chicken is just a DNA strand short of being human, and tofu tasting like boiled blotting paper, is the ultimate gourmet experience. So, I was very pleasantly surprised to find delicious, real food at La Mexicana and served in mammoth proportions. Last visit it was the slow cooked, shredded (top grade Aussie) beef enchilada which was devoid of gristle, exceptionally yum and a complete meal in itself. (About AU$8) Previously it was the chicken, which was also tops. As the unfortunate canary in the coal mine when it comes to being laid low by the mere suggestion of e.coli or salmonella, I also went and checked out the kitchen; really clean, with all the sanitary protocols in place which are so critical in Bali but still remain a profound mystery to locals and amateur foreign chefs alike. Staff use disinfectant hand wash, all food is prepped and washed in purified water. I also noted that the young owner is there every night watching that standards are maintained. When you're over the very dubious benefits of goji berries and wheat grass, and crave a real, honest, clean, delicious meal give it a go.

“Very filling and tasty.”
Reviewed 9 May 2014

We had burritos and enchiladas and some mixed juices. All of the items we ordered were very good. The portions were quite large, and it all tasted very well. Not the best Mexican I've ever had, but it was definitely worth a visit. There were some issues with their credit card machine, some had to go next door to withdraw money, which was annoying as we were leaving for the airport, so we were trying to get rid of our cash.

“Best Mexican ”
Reviewed 19 April 2014 via mobile

Holy mother of Mexico! This place is amazing! We are no stranger to Mexican food in Wellington, New Zealand - where less than good food providers are out of business before the change of the season (competition).

La Mexicana is the best Mexican we have tasted and we have a native Mexican in our family.... Sorry sis!

Totally worth it, the Sangria is strong- they don't skimp on the liqueur here. The food is just devine- generous portion. It was so good we had to order a third main between us - in case we don't get the chance to have any better. Stuff to our neck, we rolled out feeling giddy and completely stuffed with a smile on our face.

Make the trip and come hungry!
