Lovely place to stay with the kids, easy walk to shops while being just far enough away for privacy. We hired a scooter with the help of the butler which made quick trips to the beach / shops easier...
We stayed at this villa, due to bad experience with one of their other villas the previous year , we were offered the villa for only the difference between low and high season prices., which was fine.
Villa is remote and you need transport to go to restaurants otherwise you have to walk in the dark on the road, which is at times quite dangerous. Our driver left on the first night we were there to go home for cereomony, but we were called a taxi. One of the safes did not work, the key to our bedroom upstairs was missing, water leaks over the floor in upstairs bathrooms, and by the time we left the water was disappearing from the pool. We ordered transport back to Legian for six people and seven pieces of luggage, and was sent one Bluebird taxi! In the
end they did arrive and pick some of us in a van after much discussion. I believe the management needs to prove on these villas..
We had an excellent stay in Villa Kumuda! It was a great villa in the heart of the beautiful Canggu.
The villa staff picked us up from our previous hotel and had wonderful drinks on arrival. The staff was always very helpful and served us a wonderful breakfast every morning and beautifully cleaned our Villa each day. They were helpful with everything we needed.
The location is good but the Villa is on a very quiet street in Canggu, walking distance to Old Mans and a short motorbike trip to Echo Beach. If you aren't comfortable driving a motorbike then there isn't much around.
The Villa itself was extremely comfortable, with a huge pool and main bedroom and also a great size living area. There were air conditioners and safe's every room, but we needed to keep the doors closed at all times to keep the coolness in. Upstairs is another wonderful little relaxing area and 2 more bedrooms each with their own bathrooms, air conditioners and televisions. If you have small children though, the couldn't stay up there as they aren't attached to the actual villa. We had a toddler with us so she ended up staying in a portable cot in our bedroom. The villa is also equipped with a washing machine to clean clothes with or there is a laundry a few minutes down the road if your lazy!
The Pool in the Villa was amazing...huge...you could easily swim laps all day! There is a great shallow area around the pool for our toddler to splash around in and most of the day there is a section of the pool that is in the shade. The pool temperature was also great.
The main bedroom was amazing. The bed was a king size and was comfortable to sleep in. There was an air-conditioning unit and also a TV. There was a massive wardrobe and plenty of draws to store all your clothes. There is an amazing bathroom with a great bath tub and separate shower and twin basins.
In the living area there was a DVD player with surround sound and also an MP3 player.
The cons about this place were that the Internet was extremely slow...to the point we couldn't even open TripAdvisor and as per all other Villas we have also stayed at in Canggu, was filled with Mosquitos (however, didn't provide us with any Citronella candles or spray until we asked mid way through the trip). Other places we have stayed in Canggu have had an abundance of candles, spray and cream for us to use. If they provided solutions to these, we would have been completely overwealmed with the stay!
I would definitely recommend staying there as long as you don't need internet (every cafe nearby has free wi-fi), are ok to ride a motorbike and take your own insect repellent!
