“Best for its location, otherwise so-so”
Reviewed 9 August 2014 via mobile

Other than it's excellent beach front location and nice staff, all the others are somewhat below average. Cheap tiles, worn out towels, insufficient amenities, but at least they were not dirty.

Breakfast was a horrible one!

But if you want to surf and enjoy the beach , this one is good for its price.

I think its hard to find a beachfront hotel for this kind of money. Staff ok, room ok, pool ok, view STUNNING! and good surf just outside the hotel. No good restaurants around. Either go up to the road where Canggu club is on, or drive to the terrific places around Batu bolong which is 30 min by foot or 10 by car, or have those restaurants deliver for an extra dollar.

Only negative thing is that their breakfast starts at 7.30, which it actually doesnt. They start putting everything out at that time and are not ready until maybe 8, which is little late if you have kids waking up at 6-7. That was very annoying

Great place to stay if you want to surf at Canggu- you really are living on top of the main surf break at Berawa or 5 min away by motorbike to Ech Beach.
The room was basic but clean, although no blackout or curtains, so really very bright when the soon rises
The sun beds are always available, the hotel is very well maintained, beautiful garden and nice and clean pool. Great place to relax as it feels so peaceful and quiet.
Breakfast was the best of the hotel, great variety on the buffet pus many types of eggs and pancakes. Just delicious!!!
The staff are very friendly. The staff on the reception could be more helpful and the bellboys ruined my suitcase as they dragged it down the stairs. It damaged all my suitcase :(

We have just stayed for 9 days, and we overall thought it was fantastic - wonderful spot on the coast north of Kuta, great grounds, lovely pool, and a privilege to be able to sit and watch the surf and the people on the beach and in the water, at this popular surf spot.
The staff are great, the rooms are big, and the hotel is small (about 40 rooms I think).
The only tiny criticism I have is that the food is average, especially for the price, not expensive, but not great value. The breakfasts are reasonably simple affairs, but they are good enough.
It's the little things like a snack of hot chips delivered to you by the pool are measly in quantity and poorly presented for the price. After the first night we didn't bother to have an evening meal there. It is a shame that with just a bit of imagination and value to the food, the place could be a real destination for casual diners who come down to surf the beach.
"Charlie Brown" who runs the surfboard hire and lessons on the beach next to the hotel (but not associated) is a good honest friendly man.
The surf is best for intermediate to good surfers, but it didn't stop the learners in my family to really advance.
We loved staying there and it is only the food that stops me from giving it 5 stars.
We will be back!

Room Tip: There are no bad rooms.

Located on the beach, it has everything you need!
Rooms are a nice size, good bathroom, really comfy beds, cute balconies, yummy breaky buffet to enjoy looking over the beach as the sun rises. The best part is the lovely staff here, they are all too happy to help you if needed and always with a big smile.
They have scooters that you can hire for $6.00AU a day so you cruise around to Seminyak whic is only 7 minute drive up the road and where all the good shops, restaurants & markets are...was great to be out of the hussle and to be able to just chill out and watch the surfers catch the next wave in or relax by the pool or on the perfectly cut lawn.

Highly reccommend

Great stay at the end of our 15 night holiday. We stayed 2 nights. 2 families, 4 rooms. Rooms were clean, air con good, great location right on the beach. Pool ok size, food in restaurant ok. We had teenage boys but not much for families with small children at this resort/hotel. It takes about 30 mins drive to get to Seminyak.

After reading the reviews on here, we decided to go and book a deluxe ocean view room, we had room 41 on level 4 (top floor) very good size room & bathroom, private balcony with 2 x chairs & a built in lounger (there are no lifts so its stairs only). Due to the amount of time spent in our room probably didn’t need to get and Ocean view room although it was nice sitting up there with a rum before going out to dinner. We stayed 3 nights we would definitely recommend & stay there again. We had stayed in Villas for the previous 4 nights & this hotel was a nice touch after the cheaper local villas. The Breakfast was ok plenty of food, we only had dinner there once, there are much better dining options close by just take a taxi cost around $50-100K IDR ($5-10NZ). La Finca a Spanish restaurant is only 5 mins by taxi & is well worth it, Spanish owned & operated. Naughty Nuris is not far away either & awesome for pork ribs. If you are staying at Legong Keraton on Sunday you should check out Kaka Lima by the Sea, at Old Mans Beach “Sunday Sunset Session”, good food & live music. The Berewa beach is fairly good surf right out front of the hotel, you can almost touch the waves whilst eating your food it’s that close. As we went in dry season beach was fairly clean I believe they get a lot of rubbish washing down the rivers in wet season & this ends up on the beaches in Bali above high tide mark (its hard to compare beach quality coming from New Zealand as our beaches are so clean & beautiful) The pool is nice right in front looking at the beach, I went surfing out in front there’s quite a lot of currents so not that favourable for swimming unless you are used to swimming in surf. Hotel wasn’t very busy when we stayed so everything was working well & under control. If you want to take day trips you can just hire a Car & Driver for around $400K IRD ( $40NZ) we took one down to Ulu Watu Temple well worth this trip Ulu watu is amazing. Taxis to Kuta are around $100-150 K (10-15$NZ) & Seminyak $75k-100K ($7.50-10NZ) there’s a Berawa beach transport sign board outside the hotel right down by the beach. All in all this is probably a 3.5 star hotel in a 5 star location, good value for money.

Room Tip: If you are going to bali to hang out in your room you have booked the wrong holiday so any room will...
