I just quit my job & was looking for a yoga/surf retreat to start several months traveling solo in SE Asia. I ended up going with Pelan Pelan because they have great 1-person packages, tons of 5-star reviews (I was a bit dubious based on the volume but can say with confidence that they're all authentic :)--and I looked at their tagged IG photos (seemed super chill/not influencer content haha). Some highlights:
*Staff: staff is amazing; feels like family/part of the community
*Other Guests: lots of solo travelers. This place attracts great people; made great connections
*Food: yum! Fresh meals everyday. People actually eat together for meals :)
*Cleanliness: the place is immaculate from the rooms (which include fresh flowers on your pillow each day) to the grounds more broadly speaking.

The only slight consideration is that the location is a bit far away from town (need to take a cab ~20+ mins). This is intentional as it feels like a real getaway but definitely something to be aware of :)

My month long stay at Pelan Pelan was one of the most relaxing and entirely positive trips I have taken in a while. All of the staff are kind, friendly and genuine without exception. The staff make an effort to learn everyones names from the first day which is extremely comforting. The surf lessons were well instructed by local instructors who knew the more quiet, less touristic and best locations to surf at. The surf instructors made the experience of waking up every day early to surf easy, they always were smiling and joking, with an added bonus over other surf schools in the area of being 1-1 with your own teacher. This made for a safe and thoroughly enjoyable experience. The food at Pelan is amazing and freshly prepared each day to personal requests and all dietary requirements are catered for. The retreat is always spotlessly clean. I would recommend this retreat to anyone I know interested in visiting Bali. It is located nearby Canggu, but in the rice fields which makes it a peaceful haven to get away from reality for a while and there are even 3 adorable dogs on the property to keep you company. I would return here in the future without a doubt. The rooms are luxurious and comfortable and there is a very open and friendly atmosphere fostered here, which makes solo travelling less daunting. You will meet many interesting, friendly people during your stay here. I would like to once more reinstate how much of a wonderful time I had here thanks to the staff, they went out of their way to make sure that everyone was well taken care of at all times and made me always feel at home.
