we stayed at this hotel for 12 nights. We did enjoy the room it was very quirky and just the right size. Unfortunately the bed wasn't very comfy and the walls were paper thin.. we heard some interesting sounds thats for sure!!
The roof top pool was great we spent most of our time lounging and swimming. Turn the music down or off its nice to enjoy peace and quiet not everyone wants the blaring music..
we had breakfast included if we didn't we wouldn't of paid of paid for it thats for sure!!
Very very very basic.. your lucky if your coffee was hot and the waffles weren't kept warm they were cold most mornings! The guava juice was off one morning which just put me off!!
Also if you don't mind the birds flying in helping themselves to the crumbs on the breakfast side then yeah!
we wouldn't say this was a hotel it was a "up market" hostel.
Staff were all friendly that we came into contact with.
OH and please get rid of the breakfast questionnaires!! noone wants to finish their breakfast then fill out a form every morning!! 4-7 times we had to fill it out.. regardless of already filling many out!

We stayed at the Koa d'Surfer Hotel for a week in November 2017. We picked this hotel because it is literally 5 minutes walk one way to the Berawa beach surf break and 5 minutes walk the other way to the Sunset Pilates studio. For us, the location was perfect.

The hotel is well designed and has a distinctive look (as the name suggests, there is a definite surfing vibe). The staff spoke good English and were friendly and accommodating.

We booked a double standard room which was on the third floor. The room was of a reasonable size and had good amenities (free water, toothbrushes, shower gel, etc, all replaced daily). There was also a minibar with reasonably priced (for a minibar) drinks inside.

Unexpectedly, the hotel also offers a room service menu (which we used quite a bit). The food was good and reasonably priced.

All in all, we were delighted with our choice, which ticked all of our boxes whilst keeping us on track with our modest budget.

But, and it was a pretty big but for us, the walls of the room we stayed in were seemingly paper thin. We did not realise this until our, admittedly younger, neighbours came back at 3am on the first morning (the Berawa area has a few night spots). They were not being particularly loud or raucous, but we could hear everything. Given that one thing led to another with this particular couple, things became a bit uncomfortable for us.

We thought that we would see how things went, but there was no question that we could hear a lot of what was being said/happening in the next room during the day and night (even with the TV on). Ultimately, we resorted to wearing ear plugs so that we could sleep.

It is a shame that such a great hotel has apparently not invested in proper sound insulation between the rooms. The noise issue might not be a problem for some people, especially those out of the hotel a lot, but for those that enjoy spending a night in and having dinner in their room every now and again, we sadly could not recommend the Koa d'Sufer Hotel.

The noise issue is the sole reason we have given this hotel 3 stars - otherwise, it was great.

We stayed in Canggu earlier this year and staying at Koa was one of the best decisions we have ever made! It is situated just off of the busy backpacker road but everywhere is still walking distance. The roof top pool is glorious, rooms are big, fancy, clean and super comfortable - food is tremendous as well! Best thing about Koa though? It is for sure the staff there, they are happy to help with absolutely everything and always up for a right laugh! Will definitely be back when I am next in Canggu thank you team!
