“An Amazing Villa for Large Groups”

I came to Villa Jagaditha with my wife and her family for the in-law's 40th anniversary. I usually stay at hotels when i travel so i was skeptical as to how this arrangement would work, but boy was i blown away!

We were collected effortlessly from the airport and were whisked through immigration. We had a fairly long drive to the villa (about 90 mins). Upon entrance we were greeted by members of the staff, given hot towels, and shown around the compound. The overall area is around 4000 sq m i think, with a variety of structures including 2 2-storey villas, 2 1 story villas, a TV room, a kitchen, and a separate massage room.

There are beautiful gardens with stunning flowers and plants, wooden bridges across massive ponds inhabited by lillies and frogs, and a stunning view of the ocean off of the cliff/infinity pool.

The villas are all very well appointed, with iPod docks, 2 sinks, closets, a seating area, and a comfortable bed with mosquito netting. The lemongrass scent was great as it kept the villa smelling fresh (though on two nights they definitely overdid it and the smell was overpowering!). Outside we had an enclosed shower, a sunken bath, an outdoor shower and the toilet.

This was my biggest complaint - the toilet was outside. Let's remember that Bali is a rainforest, and is inhabited by all manner of creatures and insects. At 3 in the morning, groggy, half asleep, one does not want to dodge frogs, dragonflies, spiders, mosquitos, bees, snails, etc. just to do a quick #1. They should have at least had an indoor pot to combat this!!

The TV room was well appointed, with movies that kept my sister in law's kids occupied during our nights out, and was equipped with Indovision so i didnt miss any of my premier league matches! The couches were also really comfortable.

The kitchen was clean and decently stocked (the staff buys items based on your requests and bills you at actual, which is great). while this misses out on having room service available 24/7 as in a hotel, if you keep the kitchen well stocked you wont mind! They also had a great (and very expensive, according to my brother) espresso machine.

The massage room is small but we considered it an added bonus. having a bit more space to accomodate couples massages would have been great! On the topic, booking a massage was very easy, you just tell one of the dozen or so staff around that you would like a massage at X time, and they organize for the masseuses to come and set up everything to your satisfaction. The main spa they use was also very very reasonably priced (USD 15 per hour) and while the quality was not as good as the 150 USD + massages at banyan tree, etc., they were still worth it!

The pool was also stunning - it was clean, flowed beautifully over the cliff towards the ocean, had ample deck chairs and staff was attentive. Unfortunately the beach (which is a 5+ min walk) was volcanic (black sand) so not really usable for the most part. Not that you will miss it give the amenities available at the villa.

Of note is that we also had a minivan and a driver at our disposal from morning to night, which definitely helps and saves on taxi fare!

The star of the villa however was the middle patio area. a covered area with the dining table, couches, and a very large sitting bed overlooking the pool/ocean from the front side and the gardens from the back. This was the center gathering point and hanging out point for everyone, and was definitely the best place to spend your time. read on the couches, take an outdoor nap on the sitting bed, grab a snack at the dinner table. it was also outfitted with speakers and a sound system. While at the villa, everyone will inevitably spend 90% of their time hanging out here.

Now, onto some negatives.

The food that was cooked was consistently good, but the chef was definitely off with his timings. he would sometimes cook dinner (eaten at 8:30) at around 4-5, and it was reheated and given to us or was stone cold to lukewarm when served to us. Given that the chef was only there to cook for us, there is no excuse for that.

The outdoor pot, as mentioned above.

Location - if you want to do many activities such as biking, hiking, water rafting etc, Ubud is quite far, on biking for example, it took 1.5 hours to get there, and about 2+ to get back due to traffic. this is quite wearisome given you only have a few days and want to enjoy all your time. A lot of the days however we just hung out at the villa because it was a great experience in itself.

OVERALL,

Villa Jagaditha was great. Its especially perfect for large groups, as hotels dont really allow you private areas to all hang out together, and get the experience of a full staff focused on you while retaining the good feel of a hotel blended with the comfort of "home". If you're just a few people traveling, this isnt for you. however, if you have a large group who likes to hang out together and wants a very relaxing, bonding trip, villa jagaditha is perfect for you!

“Perfect family getaway”
Reviewed 19 June 2011 for a stay in May 2011

Imagine Singaporean efficiency, Thai hospitality, Korean drama-romance settings, Japan modern yet thoughtful technology blend with the rich Bali history and culture in one luxury ocean-view villa.

This distinctly Balinese-style villa tucked in the bossom of paddy fields and nestle next to the beach is undoutedly a refreshing sight from the tourists-infested Kuta and Denpasar.

The 6-room villa provides a contained and relaxing environment for the family while the attentive yet unintrusive staff attend to every single details make one stays enjoyable and pampered.

As a nature-lover, one would truly appreciate the closeness to nature if one can relax by the pool with the sound of crashing waves, the chirping and buzzing animal in the lush garden in the background, admire the sun sinking into the sea with the variety array of colours while letting ones feet rest on the lush green lawn still humid with the afternoon shower.

The facilities, e.g. TV room, steam room, infinity pool, massage room, verendar by the beach, BBQ pit... etc will definitely keep the family entertained while sapping every last drop of energy from the kids. My family members get to do what they like and yet we always meet at the dining tables for the delicious meals picked from an extensive selections and the fresh quality ingredients purchased on the day itself.

What more could one ask for?

“Stunning villa resort with fantastic views and wonderful service which guarantees a wonderful holiday”
Reviewed 16 June 2011 for a stay in May 2011

The beauty of this 6 star resort masquerading as a mere villa will literally take your breath away as one walks through the manicured gardens and peers across the infinity pool to the cliff side temple and Ocean beyond.

Those who often find themselves disturbed on holiday by maintenance issues, aged equipment or decor glitches have no fear as this new luxury villa delivers perfection in every respect from whisper quite ducted aircon, superbly comfortable beds, beautiful bathrooms, up to the minute gym and steam/massage rooms .

What really impresses are the lovely and highly professional staff who are there to cater for your every need. The food is superb with excellent local and Indonesian cuisine from the a la carte menu prepared in ultra modern super clean kitchens.

Jagadeetha is ideal for family holidays and there is something for everyone from Granny to Teenagers. I have never been more relaxed on a holiday and I look forward to my return visit soon.
