“It was fine for a stop over....”
Reviewed 18 March 2014

We stayed here two nights in the end and then got the boat to Phnom Penh. Was good value for money, clean rooms with a fridge and a balcony but did get a lot of bugs in the room from opening the door for a split second. Other than that it was fine.

We arrived late in the evening and left early the next morning as we just stopped here to take an early morning boat to Phnom Penh.
We where greeted by a very friendly face on reception and taken to our room on the 2nd floor(no Lift) the room was quite dirty and we shared with allot of the nightlife.
The air conditioning didnt work which meant a very hot and sweaty night. The shower only gave cold water which wasnt to bad as the room's where so hot.
But what do you expect for £8 a night

The receptionist was a delight to interact with. She was very friendly ams helpful. I stayed for only one night and had a room on the 4th floor overlooking the Russian market. Yes, you'll have to climb stairs to get up there. The room was small but all one really needs. The bed wasn't the softest but if your not a princess I'm sure you'll be just fine. The balcony was great as you could watch the town go by and the location of the hotel was seemingly in the middle of everything.
Advise: if you will be hanging out on the balcony at night do turn off the lights and be sure the doors are closed as I forgot that it was buggy territory. And they love the light.
Great for a nights stay to check out chau doc! And good for the price.

We stayed for 2 nights at this hotel, at the end of 3 weeks travelling around Vietnam. The hotel is great value for money, it's a real bargain! The room was basic but clean & the bed comfortable, although the sheet for a double bed was quite small! We were in room 303 & it overlooked the market but we had to be up early both mornings anyway so didn't cause us any issues! Wifi was good, & the breakfasts were ok. The receptionist spoke great English & organised our boat to Phnom Penh! We also did the floating market tour for $10 that the hotel organised & it was great! Our guide Khoi was brilliant!

Only stayed a day and night as coming from Cambodia and travelling on, but really liked the hotel. Not flash at all, but really pleasant and well-placed for almost everything Chau Doc has to offer (and Chau Doc's pretty good too). Room basic but perfectly fine and of course cheap. Receptionist had best English we came across in 8 hotels in S E Asia on this trip and very helpful. When we were at the bus waiting to go onto Ha Tien she rang them up and they came with a mobile so she could check we were okay (we were) and asked us to confirm we'd got to Ha Tien okay too (we did). Really can't say better than that - thanks very much.

This little hotel was recommended by a friend and it's a great value for the $. It's definitely in the center of the action, being right across the street from the market. The town wakes up about 6 am with the vendors setting up and the scooters out and about, so it's pretty noisy most of the day, but everything shuts down by 10 pm so sleeping is not an issue. We enjoyed watching the action from our balcony. It seems that whatever guest house you stay at in SE Asia, that either you're woken up by a honking scooter or a crazy rooster! Anyway back to the hotel... Breakfast is served in the lobby area, where you order off a menu ($1 for eggs and baguette, 75 cents for coffee) and they run down the street to a restaurant that prepares it, and then they run it back to you covered in Saran Wrap. It's actually cheaper than going to the actual restaurant because we did that once too. One of the front desk girls spoke great English and arranged a ride up to Sam Mountain for us. Didn't realize we would each be on a scooter until they picked us up the next morning! It was really fun, we stopped 3 times for pagoda viewing and it was cheap at $6/ ea. The hotel itself could use a little maintenance. The bidet hose in the bathroom only worked part of the time, the knob was missing on the outside of our patio door, and the air con stopped working on our last night there. To their credit they offered to move us to another room but because we had to rise very early the next morning and get it together for the fast boat to Cambodia, we opted out. The only other complaint is that they didn't clean our room 1 day when we specifically asked them to on our way out 1 afternoon. We had opted out of the cleaning for the 1st 2 days we were there because we didn't feel it was necessary but the 3rd day was a must. All in all, the hotel is very clean and the staff is friendly. You can't beat it for the price.

Room Tip: There's no elevator so plan for that. We were in the 4th floor and it was a hike up the stairs.

Stayed here two times, the location right at the market is very convenient to grab some food any time of the day and the staff is very helpful. Breakfast served in the hotel is only average, though. All the rooms have balconies and the shower works well. Best option on your way to/from Cambodia. Single 11, Double 16, Twin 20 USD.
