“A Traditional Market”
Reviewed 9 August 2013

After a long muddy roads, We have been in Can Cau market. We did not love it at first. Actually i hate crowed place but my girl friends - Henssy wanted to blend with local. To make her happy, we traveled here. We saw a lot of Hmong ladies with colorful clothes which I thought there was a flower forest there when we reached higher. We felt to wallow in a market hundred years ago with exchange trade system. They were here to trade what they have for what they need. Without higher buildings, super markets, retailers, people here had small stores and sold silk, foods, animals, .etc. I have try the traditional food named "Thang Co". It was hard to say "good" but it is still a memorable things that I had. Anyway, I rate it excellent for friendly people, pure view and good support guys. Thanks you all, especially Mr Linh for supporting us anytime we need.

The Can Cau market on saturday is super!. a long trip from Sapa over a good road, but the last part is under construction.it is not a touristic market, the weather was good,so many hilltribes were present and sold goods to eachother.it was o.k. to shoot pictures, but it did not seemed they were interested.actually we were the only tourist at that moment .for us one of the highlights of Vietnam!

“An experience to immerse in if you have come this far...”
Reviewed 31 March 2012

Interesting and definitely the real deal with a riot of colors(fm the ethnic wear of flower Hmong ladies)' sights, smells and sounds - if you are not already deafened by the incessant horning fm vehicles in Vietnam . Other than a handful of persistent Hmong ladies trying to sell visitors colorful bags, the locals just go about their usual stiff, bit batting an eyelid with us visitors hanging around, snapping pics etc ... Totally unfazed ! We try hard not to be so trigger happy but resistant is sometimes futile ..

Warning - roads can get very slippery and muddy. Good footwear with good grip is essential.

“Not just another market”
Reviewed 27 February 2012

The colors of the clothing worn by the women and children drew more attention than the colors of the fruits, vegetables and other items for sale. I've been in many markets and I think this was the first where live water buffalo (various ages) and horses were included in the market to be sold.

“Typical Vietnamese market”
Reviewed 14 December 2011

I rated this as average as same as any other Vietnamese market same same but different. We bargained for everything we brought in dong at the price we wanted to pay in AUD. Did not bargain for food paid the asking price. Attended a Vietnamese wedding was reason for our stay in Ca Mau. Vietnamese family took us to family shrimp farm for the day. What a fantastic experience that was. They killed a couple of chickens upon our arrival and boiled them for our lunch along with vegetables from the garden. All cooked in traditional kitchen. Amazing! We had nanna naps in hammocks before heading back to the city.
