Sapa was our last destination of our mountain bike tour. I had been to Victoria Sapa in 1998 and 2000 so I was happy to stay there again.
Many things have changed in Sapa since the opening of the Victoria (the Hotel was the first foreign project in Sapa at that time and there was nowhere else to stay).
The hotel has been designed 15 years ago and the standards have now evolved. The rooms are now too small, the finishes are poor, etc. Even the TVs have not been changed since the opening!
The indoor pool used to have a heating system in the winter but I suppose that the management decided to save on the costs and we coudn't even bathe.
The rooms are worth 80-90 USD max. but I was charged 130 USD.
The only thing really enjoyable is the fire place and the food: we ordered a degustation menu and it was wonderful (pricey for course, but what do you expect if you order foie gras and bourgogne in Sapa?)
Today, I would recommend the travellers to try some other places except for couples who are ready to pay more to avoid trouble.More
