“Nicest hotel we stayed at in Vietnam”
Reviewed 22 March 2014

Now at the end of our 3.5 weeks in Vietnam, I can safely say that this was the most charming hotel we stayed at on our trip. We were given an upgrade to one of the superior rooms on the front of the hotel, and it was absolutely fantastic. The spacious room's decor is lovely, the sheets are clean and fresh and the bed very comfy! WiFi in the room, flat screen TV with lots of channels (several in English), hot water shower, hair dryer, kettle and coffee/tea making facilities, what more could you ask for? Also really enjoyed all the beautiful black and white photographs decorating the whole hotel.

The included breakfast is solid, and the staff extremely friendly and helpful. Certainly the nicest and best value-for-money hotel of our stay in Vietnam.

Room Tip: It is worth spending the little bit extra to upgrade from the standard room. Pay a little to get a w...

I would recommend this hotel to everyone. Location is great, rooms are great (good shower and spacious), delicious breakfast is included and reasonable prices (our room was only 20 dollar). Best thing is the extremely friendly family that runs the hotel, they are not pushy, but help you with anything if you want.

We moved to the elysian after staying one night at the Sapa Lodge hotel which was a bit more expensive (it turned out that both hotel are under the same management). We got a room with a view (there were no standard ones available) and enjoyed it very much. The reception guy was super super nice and the room was clean and beautiful. The only down sides i noticed were:
1. There is a construction nearby so during daytime there is some (not major) noise.
2. We had a very good weather so we didn't needed heating, but there was no air-con. There were however electrical heating sheets (nice...).
Overall - very recommended!

Most of the reviews about this delightful boutique hotel describe the wonderful service from the friendly owners and staff. I arrived in Sapa running a fever on day 1 of a rotten cold. All I really wanted to do was curl up in bed and sleep it off. On day 2 I did just that, requesting a steaming bowl of Pho Bo for supper. My wife placed the order at the in-house restaurant, expecting to pick up a take-out, but within 10 minutes Tony's mom arrived at our door on the 3rd floor with a delicious meal. Later Tony's dad dropped by to collect the tray. These are truly delightful, caring hosts offering charming rooms and service at very reasonable rates.

Please note that the Sapa hotels will generally not be as posh as hotels in the big cities. But, once you have survived the train trip from Hanoi, this hotel will be a very welcome respite. Typical of most of the hotels, there is no elevator, so be prepared to climb the stairs to your room. The staff will bring the luggage, so that is not a problem. The hotel is right on the main street and close to everything in Sapa. The rooms are small but clean and comfortable and the staff will do their best to be helpful. There is free Wifi in your room although it can be sporadic at times. Great free breakfast in the restaurant and very good food at reasonable prices for your other meals. Good value at $44/night for a room with a view and $38/night for a room with a street view. To enjoy Sapa you must be prepared to do a lot of hiking up and down mountainous terrain. Not for people with mobility issues. If you cannot do the very long hikes, you can arrange to have a driver take you to the local towns and markets.

All the staff at Elysian helped our group to the best of their abilities and were always willing to help out. The food is decent and the tour they organised for us was extremely solid. Location, Wifi, Cleanliness was all up to standard and the complimentary breakfast was great.
