Don't believe the hype about "every room has a view". We had asked specifically for good views and our ground floor rooms (2) looked out on an alley. There was a peeping Tom, if you consider that romantic or ethnic. The woman in fancy dress who handed us our keys was surly and unhelpful (shrugged when we asked if there were any rooms with views/shrugged when asked if we could have some heating/didn't know where we could park/couldn't suggest where to eat/ didn't know when the museums shut - the problem was not linguistic, by the way) and the rooms were a clutter of hideous and, judging by the smell - cats? Cheap air freshener? - none too clean kitsch. Having stayed in wonderful hotels in other parts of Rumania, we were disappointed, but I assume they reckon no-one would ever need to visit Sighisoara more than once - although the town is extremely pretty - so why make an effort? A number of the other hotels and pensions in town looked much more pleasant and at the same price or less.
