“Wonderful hotel”

Wonderful hotel in the best location of Sighisoara. The house is a classsical nicely renovated building in the heart of the city. The service was perfect, very much because of the extremely well service-minded receptionist Sergui.

The Georgius Krauss is a charming, recently renovated property in a very old, historical building. The owner has done an excellent job of keeping the old while injecting modern comforts in the rooms, especially the bathrooms. We chose Room 8, which in retrospect, had limited useful space because of the low dormer ceiling and there was too much heavy, boxy furniture taking up room - we probably should have reserved a higher spec room. Keep in mind that this is an old building, so sound proofing is a challenge. We expected some problems with the bells of the nearby Caltholic church, but the noise issues were internal: one night, a very loud, very amorous couple in the next door room and the second night, a water leak that caused staff to wake us and other guests in the middle of the night to try to locate the source. Breakfast was quite good, although the breakfast room is a bit tomb-like for some reason.

Location is perfect - in the citadel, close, but not too close to the square so you are away from most of the hustle and bustle of tourists when they pour in from the town below.

While the manager was a bit disinterested, the staff were excellent - great attitudes and well trained. We ate dinner both nights on the small veranda in front of the hotel. The food was outstanding and the house wine reasonably priced and quite good. Their chef has obviously had some good training.

Sighisoara itself is as advertised: well preserved and charming, although we found the old town of Sibiu to be much more interesting. You can see it in a few hours as it isn't large. We also took a short drive to see Viscri, which is well worth the moderately long journey. We found it to be at least as interesting as the most famous fortified church, Biertan, which we saw on the way driving over from Sibiu.

Room Tip: Pick a higher spec room as some rooms are crowded and have low ceilings.

Absolute gorgeous place. Although in the Sighisoara Citadel - it's next to the catholic church - it wasn't crowdy at all. We enjoyed the a la carte breakfast, the perfect dishes at noon, the great hospitality.
Sighisoara is a perfect choice for 2-3 nights stay with nice places to visit. But if you want 100% satisfaction, than choose the Krauss House.
Highly recommended...

Very nice room, excellent service and a great location
Walking distance from town square, and attractions but not in the old town square to avoid the noise
The hotel Bar & Restaurant is open later than most places in the old town which is a great benefit
Hotel is small, few rooms, you still enjoy the benefits of Privacy and Intimacy
Small imperfections still to be found, Church is across the street
Price is on the top level for Sighisoara

Room Tip: Go for the superior rooms for size and design

We stayed in the "painted room" . We were only stopping in Sighisoara for a day, but after checking in at the hotel and experiencing the excellent service along with the town's atmosphere we decided on two extra nights! From the moment we walked in we were mesmerized. Breakfast the first two days was a la carte, and our last day was buffet style.

Room Tip: After taking a tour of several rooms the most captivating by far was room # 2 , the painted room

We stayed one night in this small and pretty boutique hotel; I believe it has nine rooms. It is in the citadel of Sighisoara. The house is a historic site. Inside is is totally renovated. We stayed at the Deluxe Double Room with Canopy. It is a big comfortable room. Our friends stayed at the Premium King Room; they liked it but said it was a bit small for two people with two suitcases. The staff is friendly, polite and helpful. There is no elevator in the hotel, but I think that is the case with most of the hotels in the historic buildings in citadel. The suitcases were carried to and from the room by the hotel staff. Breakfast was fine. It was buffet style except the eggs which were prepared for each guest. The only drawbacks were that the mattress was too hard and there was no safe in the room. I recommend this hotel and would stay there again.
