“Incredibly spacious and historic”
Reviewed 16 February 2014

Casa cu Cerb is located in the absolute heart of the old fort city of Sighisoara on the corner of the main square. It is easy to walk everywhere from here and is one or two doors down from Case Vald Dracul, where Vlad Tepes' father was born... and less than 5 mins from the main clock tower gate to the citadel.

We only stayed here one night and our rooms were HUGE - mine overlooked the square. The bathrooms were also huge and very clean with good hot water. We had a lounge and coffee table in the room as well as a very comfortable bed.

You have to walk up stairs to the rooms, which can be a struggle if your bags are large, though the staff are very helpful and friendly.

As with everywhere in Romania, if you don't smoke, you might find lodgings and eating establishments polluted with smoke. However, though this hotel has a restaurant on the ground floor in which people smoke, there is another, to the right of reception, where people don't - and this is the breakfast room, where breakfast is made to order. The rooms did not smell smokey at all.

We stayed just after peak season on a Sunday night so everything in town was fairly quiet. However, I got the impression this was not one of the main places to eat (I can't comment on the restaurant - we ate at Case Vlad Dracul ... and were the only diners!).

This is a lovely pace to stay in 17th century surrounds - I loved the wooden stag's head that protrudes from the corner of the building into the square, as well as the fact that they bring in an old street dog at night and shelter him after all the guests have gone to bed.

It is a very nice hotel... Rooms are clean, comfortable and extremely big... Staff is very friendly... Overall, it was a great choice...

I had one little problem though... I didn't like the bathroom that much... Especially the toilet bowl... I really don't understand the point of those "inverse" bowls... I saw that type in Germany before... Definitely something not comfortable...

We stayed one night at the Hotel with Antler/Stag House. The Hotel was excellent and I would stay here again.

The location is in the center of the town with many hotel-restaurants within a 2-3 minute walk. Recommendation: walk 5-10 minutes to the “lower city” where the selection is much broader in scope. In the lower city, the restaurants are not primarily associated with a hotel and “just have to be competitive.”

Our room was large, the hotel was clean, and shower worked well. The breakfast, included in the rate, was to order off of a menu. The selection and taste were excellent and the coffee was both bottomless and hot. One note: there is no elevator and our rooms were upstairs. We had to carry our own bags.

Casa Cu Cerb is an old building from the 17th century so expect charm and noisy stairs. Rooms are clean and there is plenty of light. Ours overlooked the main square of the citadel so you can also expect to hear revelers later into the evening. The restaurant is excellent with some outstanding Romanian and Romanian inspired dishes. The kids were thrilled with breakfast as they could order whatever they wanted off the menu which, in their case, meant chocolate dessert crepes. The staff were cheerful and friendly. You may need reservations for dinner so ask when you check in. Price was very reasonable. We would gladly stay here again.

Room Tip: You might ask if there are rooms away from the square if you care about noise or want an early night...

Yes - apparently King Charles stayed here on an early visit. It is a lovely hotel in the middle of the old town with cobbled streets and lots to see. It is near Vlad the Impalers birthplace which is now a restaurant, so easy walking distance to all the good spots to visit in the town. The rooms were comfortable and clean and we had a room overlooking the side street which was pleasant. There are quite a few stairs to climb in this hotel, so if you have shaky knees or lots of luggage then this could be a problem. We really enjoyed this hotel and would definitely recommend it.

I love this hotel! I could not think of a better location than right in the middle of the historic citadel with the birthplace of Vlad Dracula two buildings away. It overlooks a small square and you can see the clock tower from the front door of the hotel. It is an old building and has lots of character but the rooms are refurbished with comfortable beds and updated bathrooms. If you have an issue with accessibility, it will be better to stay on a lower level as there is no elevator and the stairs are narrow and winding (typical of an old historic building). Breakfast was included in our rate and was made to order. We also had dinner in the hotel restaurant which had pretty good food and a delicious walnut cake for dessert. I do not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

This hotel is everything that has been stated in all the positive prior reviews. Our room #6 at the top was a hike but worth it for the lovely room and ambiance. Very nice sitting area with a sofa and chair and coffee table for having guests in the room and also an area outside the room. The bath has a tub and a separate shower .Plenty of hot water. THE BEST STAFF EVER (although the Moxa Hotel in Bucharest is really the best ever). There is no buffet but menu breakfast and delicious and plentiful. Perfect location in a perfect hotel with a perfect staff, what else is there?
