“help in time of need!”
Reviewed 24 March 2010

We spent a few happy and relaxing days at the Canada hotel last September and would echo what other reviewers have said about its peaceful charm and delightful setting near, but not in Olimpos. A wonderful launching pad for days exploring ancient ruins, sea swimming and walking in the national park (Saban was very helpful in directing us to good walking routes). While we were there we had a major crisis in our travel arrangements. We had planned to leave Turkey by train for Bucharest, but the railways were washed away by heavy floods. Carrie immediately sprung into action to help us a) find out what was happening, b) find out where and how we could reconnect with the railways (mid- Bulgaria at the crack of dawn!) and c) book us a plane to Bucharest. We were so grateful to her for this help, so freely given.

The holiday that we spent at the Canada Hotel was one of the happiest, stress free vacations we have ever had. We are a family of four with a girl aged 7 and boy aged 4.
Prior to booking I sent a few emails to Carrie who always responded promptly and was really helpful. She saved us a fortune by telling us about kthy airline that we had n’t heard of. By the time we arrived I felt as if she was a friend!
When we landed at Antalya airport we had arranged transfers with the hotel and I would highly recommend the option. It was all stress free and considering the distance between the airport and hotel we thought the transfer fees were very reasonable.
Within a few minutes of arriving at the Canada hotel the children were in the pool. Again it was stress free watching the children. The pool never gets crowded and they soon started making friends with the other children there. The pool was always kept spotlessly clean. There was never a shortage of beds around the pool and the whole atmosphere was very chilled out.
We were very happy with our room. It had four single beds with two each side of the bathroom. This meant that us parents had some privacy and were able to have the light on while the children were still in the same room. Again the room and bathroom were always kept immaculate and bedding was changed every couple of days. There was a fridge and a tv, although we never got around to putting the tv on. The hotel was lovely and quiet at night which was lovely too.The photos of the room don’t really do it justice as it felt much more spacious than we had imagined.
The garden was a real little oasis with hammocks and chickens about. Even in the middle of the day you could find shade.
We don’t eat meat but do eat fish and had plenty of variety with the fish and veggie options. There were always lots of different plates of food brought to our table, so you would have to be an incredibly fussy eater not to really enjoy the meals. We thought the cooking was fantastic. Our 7 year enjoyed sampling the traditional Turkish food and although this is not the sort of place to bring children who only eat pizza, chips and things in breadcrumbs, all the children seemed happy at meal times. (In fact this might be the place to bring fussy eaters)The food is nicely presented so it tends to encourage the children to try new foods. Every night we felt very full and after the week at the Canada I had put on half a stone, so you have been warned! Saban’s cooking is fabulous. We usually felt full when only half way through the meal! The half board option is a bargain.
The kitchen was on full view and again was always immaculate clean even in the middle of meal preparations. We never got around to trying an evening meal out of the hotel, but a another group did and they were really disappointed after going to an expensive restaurant.
There were plenty of little trips to keep us busy for the week we were there. The Olympus ruins; Chimaera at night and Phaselis were super little trips.
The best thing about the hotel was the staff. It is worth going to the Canada hotel just for them. Carrie will organize any trips you want, but never tries to persuade you to take any additional options, so you never feel under pressure. Our children fell in love with the staff and our 4 year old cried most of the way on the return trip to the airport. Our 7 year old immediately started to write an email to the staff once she was home. Mind you, we were all in tears when it came time to say goodbye to Carrie and her lovely staff. You really feel as if you have been staying with family friends at the end of a week there.
We are going back again next year. We are n’t the sort of people who do ‘repeat’ holidays, but I think we will be going to the Canada hotel for some time to come.We are organizing the return trip and the only thing worrying me is that the children will start asking how many ‘sleeps’ it is until we go back!

We booked this hotel because of the good reviews here, and we were very happy. The rooms were clean, the food was delicious, and the area quiet and relaxing. We arrived on a hot day and were very happy to relax in the pool, watching a pair of eagles soaring overhead, when we arrived. The gardens were nice, with hammocks to relax in.

We did the walk to the top of Olympus - which you really must try, to see the flames coming out of the rocks was amazing. We appreciated the owners loan of a powerful torch as we went at dusk, to see the full effect. We used the hotel's bike to ride down to the beach - which was quiet with a couple of nice beach cafes. We really enjoyed our time here.

The Hotel Canada is a great small hotel within a short walk from the beach and ruins. The setting is very relaxing with a small orange orchard out the back door.

Rooms are clean and comfortable. Only small complaint I had was that the sheets were tiny and did not fit the bed.

The dinners at the restaurant are great - no need to go anywhere else for dinner. Food was very tasty and "home made".

And the staff is wonderful. They are extremely attentive at meals without being overly-so. And the owner goes out of his way to help with any issues you might need help on.

Wonderful place - would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Life got in the way of me doing this review and indeed any reviews of our Turkey trip in 2008. So many wonderful things on the trip, but this is the one and only review that I have had extreme guilt in not posting. My husband and I were married at Canada Hotel in May 2008. Carrie and Saban arranged all of the details for us. They put us in touch with people at the embassy, and arranged every detail. Saban drove us around Antalya making sure all of the paper work and doctors visits were complete and generally without him we would have been utterly lost.

On the wedding day everything went exactly as Carrie and Saban had planned it. Carrie took all of our wedding picture for us and we are SO happy with them, they are fantastic. They arranged for me to have my hair done in a nearby village, which was very nice of them, but that aspect of the day was somewhat disasterous and I left the stylists with bangs (or fringe) that was reminiscent of Cameran Diaz' in Something about Mary.

Some young Dutch girls at the resort made me a boquet from flowers that they found along the road to town. Finally, Saban made us the most wonderful meal that evening to cap off a fantastic day.

I can't say enough about how much Carrie and Saban assisted us with this, and really did as much of the leg work as was possible, and all for the most reasonable cost possible.

Cirali is a beautiful place and the owners and staff at Canada Hotel are very special.

Our family spent an enjoyable week at the Canada Hotel in Cirali at the end of October. Cirali wasn’t busy and the sea still nice and warm. We liked the area very much: the scenery was dramatic, with impressive cliffs, mountains and thick vegetation and some interesting wildlife. The Lycian sites like Myra and Olympos were well worth visiting, and we particularly like Phaselis which was a perfect place for a swim with the ancient ruins as a romantic backdrop. Canada Hotel was good value for money, peaceful, relaxing and, with just a dozen guests or so at the time, quite intimate; the kids liked the gardens, the chickens, the pool and the table tennis, and we rated the evening meals, especially the mezzes which never seemed to repeat. The staff were attentive, helpful and friendly, and Mehmet especially was great with the kids. Having Saban and Carrie on hand is especially helpful, since they can give you all the low-down on what to do and where to go and when. I’d recommend a hire car, because it is such good value and allows you to get out and about, even if negotiating your way through Antalya to and from the airport is a little nerve-racking.
