I reserved at the Canada after seeing all the excellent reviews on Tripadvisor. I'll start with the positives: The pool was great and the eating area in the shady roofed open air was very nice. The dinner we had was excellent - nice mezes and delicious grilled fish - large portions. The staff is super nice and very helpful. The ping pong table was a nice addition for evening entertainment. Free bikes to use were also a plus. Nice fruit tree area with hammocks. Now the negatives: The breakasts were quite average compared to our experiences elsewhere in Turkey - no yogurt or homemade breads and pastries, no fresh coffee - only nescafe, and small fruit selection. By no means bountiful breakfast. The rooms in the main hotel were quite small, not much bigger than the size of the bed so a bit difficult to navigate around the room. Each room had a balcony but wasn't very useful and opened right onto the area where everyone walked to their rooms. Location: the hotel is not as convenient to the beach as it might appear. It is on the main road into town and is a hot 20 minute walk to the beach or other restaurants. You can use their bikes but you would have to carry stuff to the beach. While we loved Ciralli and the staff of the Canada was gracious and very helpful, if I were to stay again I would want to be on the road across from the beach and not have to drive or walk on the hot, rather ugly road for 15 or 20 minutes to get to the beach. I do think the Canada suffers from Trip Advisor grade inflation.

Firstly I would like to thank you for all of the postive comments regarding our hotel as we do try our very best to please and satisfy all our guest to ensure a restful and memorable stay...or if there is anything we can do to make your stay with us more pleasurable, please do not hesitate to ask us and we shall do our very best to try and satisfy your request.

I would now like to take the time to respond in regards to the comments made as they will be helpful to future travellers to our hotel and readers of this review. You will be happy to know that we now have Filter Coffee available on the breakfast buffet for all guests. Available since early July. Sorry that this guest missed out on the filter coffee brewed fresh in the morning. Over the years we have only ever had a few guests requesting filter coffee ( maybe once or twice a year ) as tea is an important part of the Turkish culture.

I am very surprized with the comments that our breakfast buffet is not bountiful..we have 28 – 30 different selections available in the morning consisting of;

3 different types of cheeses
2 different types of olives
3 different types of homemade jams
6 package selections of honey, butter, cream cheese, chocolate spread ( nutella ), and a various assortment of packaged jams
3 different types of cold cereals with milk
The typical Turkish breakfast of tomatoes and cucumbers
Bolied eggs
Watermelon or honeydew melon

Typical Turkish bread and on alternating days there are pancakes, buiscuits ( poça – Turkish pastry - they are small little breads made with yogurt, butter, and olive oil, and then stuffed with white cheese and herbs.), Fritters ( Pişi – Turkish sweet fried dough ) & french toast.

On alternating days there is saugages, and salami.

Filter coffee, Nescafe coffee, Turkish tea, 3 types of flavored tea crystals ( apple, orange etc ) plus cold fruit juice. All this is included in the price of the room.

We do not put yogurt on the breakfast buffet due to the heat and it would sour or spoil within a short period of time..but of course there is no reason one could not ask for it as an extra.

Further more I would like to comment regarding our location. The first and nearest entrance to the beach from our hotel is exactly 750 meters. However if you were to walk through the village to the second car park area along the beach where some of the restaurants are located it would take approximately 15-20 minutes. Depending on how fast or slow you walk. We also offer to all our guests a FREE shuttle service bus back and forth to the beach on a regular basis which is useful for those guests travelling with small children, for those that have some walking disbilities, or for those who have arrived in Cirali with a car.

The most it could take to walk from our hotel to the nearest entrance on the beach is roughly no more than 10 minutes.

All this information I give out in great detail upon arrival at check in to the Hotel along with an information package that includes a map of the area along with a historical guide.

In regards to comments about the size of the room. We have over the years made substantial improvements to the quaility and ammenties of the rooms and expansions of the garden and property. But since the main building of our hotel was built over 17 yrs ago it was in accordance to the building standards available at that time for small hotels and penisons in this area. Over the last few years some guest's Expectations have risen in regards to rooms size.

The rooms are of average size for 2 people, with either 2 twin beds or a dbl bed room with a large en-suite bathroom. Also with excellent storage space, make up ( desk ) table and bed side lighting. Very few guests comment about the size of the room and find them adequate in size for the amount of time one spends in the room. Most guests also make use of the gardens and hammocks along with the pool, poolside restaurant and bar.

Photos of the inside of the rooms and grounds of the hotel are found on our website, in the photo gallery pages and various sites over the internet . The rooms are provided with all modern amenities from air-con, TV’s, hairdryers, mini-bar fridges.. etc ( all free of charge )

These guests stayed in the room facing the gardens ( rooms #101-102 ) on the first floor..for 3 nights . There is no major foot traffic in front of these rooms. But yes there might be a person from time to time walking on the walkway and I cannot see any problems with that.

We are not a 5 star luxury hotel just a small family owned and operated pension/hotel but we do wish only to make our entire guests happy and comfortable. We welcome you again at the Canada Hotel in the future.

Out of 222 reviews we have received 175 Excellent reviews, 39 Very good and with only 8 average reviews. I do believe that the majority of our guests are satisfied and happy with their stay.

Carrie is an excellent host who succeeds in catering for all the requirements of her guests at Canada Hotel.

Cirali is a wonderful little place, off the beaten track, and not at all touristy. We stayed 10 days at the Canada Hotel in July/August with our daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren and loved every minute of it.

The rooms were spotless and food was excellent. However the food did get a little boring towards the end of our 10 day stay as I am vegetarian but this is not a criticism.

It would be difficult to be negative about anything as Carrie does her absolute best to ensure all her guests enjoy themselves regardless of the length of their stay.

We travelled to Hotel Canada for 2 nights from our base in Kalkan to visit Cirali and it was lovely. We stayed in one of their new bungalows which were so clean, bathroom really good size and the kids loved the bunk beds and the TV!

Breakfast was included in the rate and we also opted for half board evening meal also and the food was excellent!

This is the perfect place to chill out and relax and cycle down to the lovely beach, walk along the ruins and then sit and have a cool beer afterwards.

If you love Turkey then you will love Cirali and say hello to Carrie from us!

My Husband and I stayed at Hotel Canada for two nights at the end of a two week trip driving from Bodrum to Anatnlya. The hotel and the room were very nice. The room was very clean and had its own small balcony looking out to the hotel’s beautiful gardens. The hotel had plenty of parking and offered a good breakfast included in the room rate. The staff were friendly and we were offered an evening meal but no menu or price was mentioned and we declined as we wanted to eat on Cirali Beach. The hotel is only a 10 minute walk into Cirali centre. The village is only really two roads, one on the beach and one slightly inland, both lined with small restaurants and the odd bar. The atmosphere was lovely, very chilled out, relaxed and reminisant of backpacking in Thailand. We would have had a beer at the hotel bar but both it and the hotel generally seemed unable to tap into the chilled out vibe and atmosphere of the village, despite the hammocks in the garden. However, I would stay there again and recommend it to other travellers.

From the moment we arrived at Canada hotel, we were made to feel very welcomed and incredibly relaxed. Nothing was too much trouble for Carrie and her staff; we spent our week enjoying the pool, getting some sun and eating the beautiful food that the hotel provided (it's well worth going half board as this eliminates the hassle of trying to find places to eat in the evening). It was particularly hot and we didn't really make the most of the various boat trips and excursions that the hotel can arrange for you. However, the beach is set against a beautiful backdrop and if you want to, it's possible to spend a very relaxing 7 days doing nothing but eating, swimming and enjoying the family-friendly atmosphere. An excellent place to bring children.
