“Another marvellous stay”
Reviewed 7 November 2011

Kibala Hotel comes up trumps time and time again! This was probably my 8th stay at Kibala in as many years, the last time before this being November 2009. The garden was even more beautiful than ever, our rooms were spotlessly clean, as usual. The food has always been excellent but even more so this year, and we 'ate in' every night. I'm familiar with the general restaurant fare in Cirali, and I have to say that dinner at Kibala is always special - a large range of original dishes with an emphasis on local, organic/ growth-hormone free produce, fine Turkish wines, immaculate service and excellent music, to round things off perfectly.

The breakfasts also deserve their own praise - you will not have a more varied and delicious table-served breakfast in any hotel anywhere in Turkey - everyday we were served a different home-made savoury pastry, a variety of home-made preserves (different ones everyday), local olives, locally produced yoghurt, butter and cheeses, eggs how you'd like them, a range of seasonal and dried fruit, and copious cups of delicious cay. No need for lunch. for sure.

Bulent and his staff were wonderful as ever. The concept of service is at a different level at Kibala. Unlike many of his co-hoteliers in the area, Bulent has travelled far and wide, and this shows in the way he runs his establishment and his general outlook on life, and of course his enormously rich collection of wonderful music!

We very much enjoyed our stay and are already looking forward to the next visit - May 2012? Inshallah...

My friend and I spent a week at Kibala early October and we couldn't have had a more relaxed and enjoyable stay. The hotel/bungalows are absolutely gorgeous, nested in Bulent's, the owner, beautiful and well kept garden and just a ten minute walk from the beach. The staff was always very welcoming and the breakfasts and dinners prepared were always a true delight. As neither my friend nor I knew much about the Lycian coast and were eager to discover the area, Bulent gave us some really good hiking itineraries and suggested and coordinated our visit in the area (boat tour etc.) We wouldn't have been able to have such a great stay without his recommendations!
Another good point is that the hotel makes shuttle reservations to and from the Antalya airport.
We're already planning our next summer vacation in Turkey and we'll be sure to stay at Kibala again!

kibala is a lovely place to stay: you just feel like being at home from the very first moment * the garden is just beautiful - you can feel bulent loves gardening and has a good sense of creating a nice atmosphere * the cottages are charming and offer everything you need * and the restaurant is like a living room - you feel cosy and comfortable and it's veranda gives you a romantic feeling even if you are not too romantic as a person * finally, the setting of kibala is beautiful and you feel the power of nature with the cliffs just around.
* * *
bulent and his team do everything to enhance this feeling of cosiness: eating at kibala is a real joy for adults - the meals are marvellous and the service is descret but very attentive.
everything is well-looked after. our children did not like the turkish meals too much but ate a lot of pasta and eggs.

we have spent ten days of famliy vaccation at kibala with very mixed weather - and still everyone was feeling happy: my husband and me enjoyed relaxing in the garden, playing table tennis, eating, eating, eating and discussing with bulent and other guests. and the kids loved goofy the dog and playing with other children.

We had a great stay here and enjoyed the food, actually eating there 5 nights out of 6. The bungalows are pretty nice and quiet at night. Lots of wildlife including birds, hens, a dog and an adorable black kitten, the smallest I've ever seen!

If you go be sure to look after the kitten, s/he is very happen to snuggle up and fall asleep on your lap if allowed.

Also he guys do a really good job of being attentive, not knowing much English is not a problem as the owner is close at hand if you need something.

We loved our 6 day stay in Cirali and were so pleased we stayed at Kibala. From the moment we arrived we felt welcomed and it didn't take long to realise we were staying in a little bit of paradise. We stayed here with our adult daughter whom we hadn't seen for 15 months so we couldn't have found a better place to spend our special time together. The bungalows are lovely and very roomy. They are much nicer than the photo's show on the website. Even with our daughter using the lounge as her bedroom we still had plenty of room, but we tended to live outside on the balcony most of the time as the weather was just beautiful. The bungalows are very private from each other so you really feel like you have the place to yourselves. Bulent and his staff do an amazing job of making your stay here extra special. The breakfasts are just awesome. Your breakfast is bought to your table and Bulent makes sure you have something different every morning. Myself and our daughter have food allergies and Bulent went out of his way to make special things we could eat. He even went out of Cirali especially to sorce foods for us. His breakfasts and dinners were an absolute pleasure to look forward to and it meant alot to us that he went that extra mile for our daughter. He never once made us feel like we were putting him out. Bulet is very passionate about his hotel and it shows in everything he does. The two young men he has working for him are also really lovely and nothing is too much trouble. If you need anything organising or just want advice just ask Bulent as he does it all for you at no extra cost and is more than happy to help. Kibala is situated on the main road coming into Cirali and is a pleasant 10 min walk to the beach. Cirali is just the most beautiful quiet place for a holiday. There are some lovely little galleries and restaurants and the beach is beautiful. The Olympus ruins are a short walk down the beach and are wonderful to walk around. Its hard to believe they are not overun with tourists. If you want to go to the Chimera flames at night, Bulent will organise someone to drop you off and pick you up afterwards. I recomend doing this as it's quite a walk to get there and very dark to bike on the narrow road. Bulent organised a wonderful Gulet Cruise for us on one of his friends boat and it was an awesome day out. We spent 6 days in Cirali and didn't feel the need to leave the village at all. You could spend a couple of weeks in this area easy if you wanted to do excursions to other places close by. The moment you turn off the main road to drive down into Cirali you know you are heading somewhere extra special and Kibala is an extra special place to stay once you arrive. It really is a little piece of paradise. Don't hesitate, you will love it!

From the moment we arrived at this idyllic corner of Turkey to the moment we left we have nothing but fond memories. In large part this is because of the Kibala Hotel. We arrived very late, owing to a delayed EasyJet Flight, and yet 3 members of staff stayed up to greet us and help with cases. The little bungalows are sweet and akin to a Swiss Ski Lodge incased in pine, with a little lounge, mini bar and fridge, a comfy double bed, wardrobe and a tasteful ensuite bathroom. If you were going to be picky you might say that the bathroom could do with a bit of re-tiling. However, everything was immaculately clean and worked very efficiently including the A/C. What really sets the Kibala apart from other hotels is the friendly helpful nature of the staff. Nez, Marslum and the other young man who's name escapes me didn't stop smiling and helped us with every request. On one occasion Nez even helped me to learn how to play Backgammon with a friend of the owner. We borrowed bikes and lights to visit the Chimera (well worth a look, but go in a taxi or use the bikes as it is about 4km), and read up on the local area from the collection of books in the library.
The food was delicious and beyond plentiful. Indeed, on one ocasion we had to eat elsewhere in the evening as we were concerned we might not fit into our swimming costumes. Breakfast will probably keep you going all day (full of fruit and vegtables, bread, cheese and eggs). Incidentally if you do decide to go elsewhere we really enjoyed Simge for Pizzas and fresh lemonade. On the subject of things to do in Cirali, there's the 3km long Beach ( a mixture of mostly sand with a few pebbles and shingle going into the clearest azure sea you could hope for). On one end is the remains of the city of Olympus (3Turkish Lira for entry). this is definitely worth spending a few hours looking around. There are also remains at Phaesilis (catch a taxi their or hire a car for a day). Phaesilis has the more intact Amphitheatre and you aren't too far from mount olympus if you fancy spending the 25Euros on the Cable car (excellent views at the top and the option of paragliding). One slight word of warning, if you are planning on doing any ittle trips, arrange it through the Hotel so their are no difficulties in translation or complications over what is included in the price. The must do trip however, is the 40 Turkish Lira Boat trip to 5 different coves, inlets and beaches where you will see a plethora of turtles. Take a face mask and snorkel and you will be able to swim with them. This was one of the happiest moments of our lives (this may appear to be a superlative too far, but it really was!). It was so good we did the trip again.

In summary, if you have children who have an insatiable desire for accommmodation with a swimming pool you may want o look at the Canada Hotel or Hotel Odile. However, with a massive beach on your doorstep, I can't think why this is such an issue. If you are lloking for peace, simplicity, friendliness coupled with scrumptious food then look no further than the Kibala Hotel. Thankyou to Balute, Nez, Marslum, the chef and all the others who make the Kibala a wonderful place.

Top Tips: Take plenty of high factor sun screen in July and Aug obviously and put your aftersun in the fridge (really refreshing). Take Turkish Lira and enough for the whole holiday as the Mobile ATM is only available in August and your card may not work in there. Enjoy the complimentary sunbeds at the Azure but have a wander down to the other end of the beach if you want to really escape. Use the Hotel when planning any little trips to avoid confusion from the local tour operators. And Finally, go on that Boat Trip!

Kibala was just what the doctor ordered. We were looking for a quiet, non pretentious get away with plenty of privacy. Kibala far exceeded our expectations. We arrived at around 5am and were welcomed warmly by Nez even though we had dragged her out of bed !! Kibala is an oasis of calm, with a lush garden of flowers and fruit trees. It was an adventure just finding out which each one was, my find of the week was a bergamot tree !! Bulent and his team strike the right balance of being attentive and respecting your privacy. All the food we ate there was absolutely delicious, we dont eat meat but that was no issue for Kibala and we were offered tasty veggie options on the nights meat was on the menu. The bungalows are set in their own little garden area with complete privacy, and two comfy chairs on the veranda so you can sit and chill out to the sounds of the crickets and chickens. I would thoroughly recommend a stay at Kibala and cannot praise Bulent and his staff enough. A particular thanks to Nez who really did make us feel so welcome !! One word of warning...dont play Bulent at table tennis unless you are a very gracious loser !!
