I have racked my brain to find a fault with The Mehtap. From the moment you arrive you are wrapped in the warmth and friendship of this delightful little hotel. Umit and Serap, together with their hilarious nephew Erdam, ensure that everything is perfect.

People reading these reviews will know all about the gorgeous new bathrooms and larger rooms. Umit planned and managed the works. He showed tremendous vision and courage when he undertook the project and deserves all the praise that is being heaped upon him. As does Serap who is totally committed to making sure all guests are well looked after.

All this is accompanied by great humour and fun which is addictive as so many fellow guests will testify. What joy after a day doing whatever one wishes (for us usually on a boat wth a wonderful group of friends that we have made over the years), to return to the cosy bar area and enjoy a nightcap with the majority of those staying at The Mehtap.

So, finally, I come back to the only thing I can think of that I could possibly complain about - THERE ARE NO FLUFFY SLIPPERS IN THE ROOMS! (Probably will be when we retrn next year!!!).

We highly recommend the Mehtap, even though we travelled late in the season and the town/hotel were very quiet we were made to feel welcome. The service was excellent and the hotel is very well maintained and clean. It's well located for the attractions and amenities in Dalyan - a lovely area with plenty on offer. Thank you very much for making our stay so enjoyable.

My girlfriend and I had never been to Turkey before and therefore has little to go on when choosing where to stay and what hotel to go for. After seeing this hotel recommended on trip advisor for being one of the best budget stays around and reading all of the very positive reviews we decided to go ahead and book for two weeks. We were not disappointed with our decision.

We arrived into Dalaman airport relatively late in the evening and were greeted at the airport by a friendly minibus driver, who quickly made us feel very welcome to the country. A short journey later we arrived at the hotel to be greeted by Umit and his family who showed us to our room and immediately made us feel at home.

One of the best features of this hotel is the family atmosphere, you feel less like you are staying in a hotel and more like you are guests in someone's home.

Umit and his family were always on hand to help, such as offer advice about day trips and places to eat. All the other guests in the hotel were also happy to share their tips on the best things to see and do locally, which was really useful as this is a place where people come back to year after year.

The hotel itself is really nice with good sized rooms, a lovely breakfast area and great swimming pool some of the stand out memories. A special mention should go to the housekeeper / breakfast chef who produces some really nice treats to go along with the regular breakfast buffet as well as keeping our room spotless.

Dalyan itself is more than we expected with countless restaurants, bars and shops, we only ate in the same place twice (because they were brilliant the first time!).

All in all a great holiday, due in no small part to Umit, his family / staff and their fantastic hotel.

We hope to see you all again soon.

This was our first visit to the Mehtap and was based on the reviews we read. Firstly our stay echoes what most of the other reviewers state; Umit and his family and staff are so welcoming and helpful and the accommodation was comfortable and met our needs, Secondly, having met Umit we cannot believe that he has been accused of being rude and even less that he raised his voice. I urge all potential guests to take note of the reviews that stress how the welcome you receive at the Mehtap is one of warmth, with as much help as it is possible to give and an extremely high standard of customer service. Umit was such a pleasant man who was so helpful - we enjoyed a short city break to Istanbul thanks to his help - and no matter the time of day or night, he was always smiling and available to his guests. We will be returning to the Mehtap and have already recommended it to other family members for 2012

My wife and I have just returned from a wonderful week at the Mehtap. We were met at Dalaman airport by taxi.A nice touch was that Erdam one of the hotel staff came to the airport with the taxi driver to meet us.On arrival at the hotel we were met by Umit the owner.Contrary to an earlier review a more friendly, helpful man you could not hope to meet.Erdem and Umit carried our bags to our room and explained everything including the operation of the A/C which comes free of charge. The rooms though basic are well decorated and very clean.A wonderful touch was the towels laid out on the beds in different designs and sprinkled with flowers. From the first impression it was quite clear to see why the Mehtap had been voted in the top 10 budget hotels in the world for the last 3 year. We then went down to the pool area where Serap(Umits wife) was hosting a party for friends and their children.Umit apologised, he was concerned that the noise may bother us ..No apology was necessary especially when Serap came over and presented my wife and I with 2 plates of party food.Gratefully accepted after our long jorney. This was the perfect welcome and got our week of to the perfect start.
As mentioned in previous reviews the breakfasts are typically Turkish with an extra touch of boiled egg, omlette, eggy bread or meat that varied daily. Also bread ,jam and honey plus unlimited tea or coffee.Hot snacks are available all day and evening at very reasonable prices.
The service throughout our stay from Umit,Serap and family was at all times first class.A perfect example of this was when it slipped out that it was my wifes birthday the following day .This resulted in that morning the beds being covered in more flowers and the towels arranged in a heart design. This was not the end for later in the day to the sounds of happy birthday Umit produced a magnificent birthday cake complete with candles ..
The grounds to the hotel are immaculate from the flowers growing up the front of the hotel to the excellent pool and bar area.Breakfast is taken in a covered open air setting complete with barbeque. At the rear of the hotel is Seraps vegetable garden complete with pomegranate trees and chickens.
I could go on and on about this wonderful hotel and its owners and staff but why not visit and see for yourself,

Room Tip: 2nd floor pool view.

My wife and I spent a wonderful week at this lovely hotel in September. It was the first time we have stayed at the Mehtap. We chose it after reading the reviews of previous guests and also by having a look at the photos of the hotel. We were made welcome right from the start by Umit ,Serap and Erdem. They made us feel like they had known us for ages.
The breakfast was very good, I particularly looked forward to the " little extras" at breakfast that would suddenly appear. The rooms were kept spotlessly clean for us, and it was a real plus to have hot water whenever we needed it.
Another plus was the how comfortable the bed was. I say this because my wife and I are both prone to bad backs but we both found that we had no problems here.
The only thing I would say is that it did seem a little cramped around the pool area with the number of sunbeds, however that did not spoil our enjoyment.
Dalyan itself is a lovely place to base yourself nd is within easy acces to a lot of attractions, like Turtle Beach, Saklikent Gorge, the mud baths and many more. There are many wonderful restaurants to go to in Dalyan and we tried to visita different one each evening. Aplce we do recommend would be Cafe Iz where you can some wondeful home made cakes and snacks and a proper pot of tea. You will also find some interesting gift ideas here if you want something typicaly Turkish.
From speaking to other guests it appeared that most of them had been several times before, in fact we felt the odd ones out being "newbies" but we were made to feel very welcome by all and certainly will go again to this lovely hotel.

This is one exceptionally clean little hotel. We had to endure an unexpected heatwave and the very efficient (and included in the price air con) was most welcome. Very quiet and peaceful yet just a stone's throw from the beautiful harbour and an amazing selection of restaurants. Best bathrooms we have ever had when staying in Turkey, even in very expensive accommodation. Hot water never failed. Whatever time of day or night it was always plentiful. Solidly built hotel which meant we were never disturbed by any other guests moving about either next to our room or above it - something I dread on holiday. Got a bit bored with the breakfasts even with the tasty daily additions provided by the amazingly hard-working lady who cooks and cleans all day long and always with a smile on her face. Would have loved a shady area to sit in away from the pool which has no real shade apart from juggling with umbrellas. OK as long as there is no wind to topple them over and if you are happy to spend hours sitting on a sun lounger, which many of us find difficult with ageing bones. Just a suggestion Umit, maybe you could convert a little of your vegetable garden to accommodate a few comfy chairs under those beautiful trees? Speaking to other guests, it would be a very welcome, popular addition to your facilities. I know your wife is very fond of her garden as it is and there is now a new family of chickens to accommodate, but whenever we have stayed at other small Turkish family run hotels, we have spent many a happy hour in a shady garden. I was very envious of the guests in the hotel next door which has a lovely garden with seating. There is no denying that for a budget rated hotel, you get amazing value for money with excellent, friendly service and attention to detail. To the disgrunted American guests who left such a stinging review a while back, I can only think that they must have stayed somewhere else.
