“A Lovely Family Run Hotel - Highly Recommend IT.”
Reviewed 30 July 2010

We ended our two week holiday in Turkey in June by staying at the Yunus Hotel in Dalyan which we had booked via Travel Republic. The price we paid was so low we wondered what we were letting ourselves in for.
From out arrival we were looked after royally. The hotel is in a lovely location situated on the river bank and far enough out of town to be quiet and peaceful. Having said that it is only a fifteen minute or so stroll along the riverside walk to the town centre. The hotel gardens are very pleasant and well maintained. There is a beautiful pool area with ample sun loungers and retractable awnings which you can use to shelter from the sun.
The hotel owner Kamerun and his wife Hulia, plus the general factotum Fatih, are splendid hosts. Nothing was too much trouble. Where else but Turkey could a guest think out loud to herself that she would like some chocolate cake only for Hulia to dash into her kitchen and 40 minutes later produce one fresh from the oven?
The food at the Yunus is very good although the menu is small and not very adventurous – not a bad thing in many cases. We had lunch there and on the night we left we had dinner. Hulia’s sautéed liver and onions was to die for. Hulia even prepared sandwiches free of charge so we could avoid the horrendous rip off prices at Dalaman airport. As an aside to this review, surely the authorities there should be locked up for grand larceny – they were charging £13 for a packet of Walkers crisps and two colas. The numbers of families eating at Burger King was amazing. They must have arranged a bank loan. Still if some people are daft enough to pay those prices then they’ll keep on charging them.
At the Yunus typical Turkish breakfasts are served buffet style and can be taken on the jetty down by the river. There was always lovely fresh bread accompanied by eggs, cheese, fruit plus a variety of cereals.
The rooms although not huge are quite adequate and kept beautifully clean. The a/c worked fine and there was no extra charge. The bathrooms are large and nicely tiled and decorated. Our only niggle was that that in ours the shower control was a bit dodgy so it took a bit of fiddling around with the control thumb piece to get the shower running. Oh yes, one other small issue, namely the erratic hot water supply. Had to get in early to guarantee a hot shower. Fatih said it was because they kept forgetting to switch on the heater. We think that maybe the tank isn’t adequately sized for the number of rooms it serves.
Kamerun organises boat trips from Gocek which, although we didn’t go on one due to the short duration of our stay, fellow guests told us they were great fun and very good value.
The Yunus is very popular with a bunch of Brits who colonise the place two or three times a year. Some have been holidaying with Kamerun and Hulia for years from when they owned the Mehtap Hotel and one has to say that the stories from yesteryear became it a bit boring after a while. One fellow guest suggested they treated their rooms like time shares to the extent they insist on the same room each year and leave their holiday clothes behind in the store room and travel with just hand baggage. Must say it makes for a quick getaway on arrival at Dalaman.
We wouldn’t choose to stay at the Yunus year in, year out as some obviously do but we’ll definitely consider it for a week’s break next year particularly as it is only a half hour drive from Dalaman airport.
In summary the Yunus is an extremely well run and friendly hotel which we can thoroughly recommend it.

2nd visit to this hotel. We were looking for a relaxing stay being pampered and that is exactly what we had. Nothing was too much for the staff. We were given the room we had requested, the airconditioning worked well, the rooms were cleaned everyday and were spotless. We moved after first day to the room we wanted and were just given a new key, all belongings had been moved across for us.

Food was excellent as usual, I think we confused them initially with toasted sandwiches with cheese and onion but got there eventually. Breakfast was taken overlooking the river, always take extra bread for the turtles. Kamerons & Hulia's families were in and out but all mixed in together and we were greeted as long lost friends by those we had met last year. Sunday nights b-b-cue is a must as it gives you a chance to meet some of the other guests and enjoy their company. As it is fairly small you get to know everyone staying there and all mix in together. All of the guests were friendly.

Kameron arranged several trips for us, we were always collected from the hotel and had some great days out. Also worth speaking to other guests and making up a party to hire Hussan's boat for the day and go to the lake or beach. We were out for about 8 hours for £12.50 each. He is on the jetty next to the hotel

While we were there one guest was not well and the care and concern shown by staff really showed how good and supportive they were. We are looking forward to returning next year, just wish I could go again in Sept as there is still so much to see and July is very hot for walking. Unfortunately I will be back in college by then.

We stayed for just over 2 weeks at Yunus. The proprietors, Kamuran and Julia couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. The location too right by the riverside with boats chugging up and down all day. You could just sit and watch and chill out if you wanted.

There are beutiful hotels in Dalyan.
We think the ones with the best atmosphere are located on the river side.
Stayed in this veutiful hotel- enjoyed breakfasts right on the river side.
When I saw a canoe (kayak) next to the hotel I asked the owner how much it would cost to rent it for a while and they offered it to us for free!
The hotel is clean and well run.
The pool is lovely as well and the views are great (so is the value)
Walk/drive (if lazy) to town and take a boat tour from 10:00 'till 17:00- its a perfect day

This was our 3rd visit to the Yunus Hotel, and we will be back again. Kamerun and Hulya always make us feel very welcome, beautiful location, next to the river but only 15 minutes away from the town centre, basic rooms but they have everything that you need and always spotless. The food is always excellent and Hulya's salads are the best in Dalyan.
Lovely pool and plenty of sunbeds, also the gardens are fantastic, loads of areas to sit quietly and watch the boats going up and down the river. The peace and tranquility is magical .

Yunus is a lovely small and quiet hotel where you can escape from the worries of the world and switch off. Breakfast by the riverside and lazing in the sun with the odd boat trip is a fantastic way to spend a week or two. Kamuran and Hulya are wonderful hosts and provide a safe haven away from any crowds. Hulya is a great cook and will even give advice on making her dishes once we're home in the UK! Kamuran has a good humour and will pass the time with us in the bar. Many of us return again and again and get to know each other - Another reason to go to Yunus!
Thanks for another lovely week!
