“Fantastic service, gardens and location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 June 2009

Just got back from staying at the superb Dalayan Garden Pension..... all the 5 out of 5 reviews are spot on; anyone who fails not to love this place/ vows to return needs their head looking at!

Cathy and Ergan were absolutely superb hosts (and their staff keep the place running lalong nicely). If you get chance to go to one of their BBQ's you will not be disappointed- we ate in some superb restaurants in Istanbul prior to arriving in Dalayan and the BBQ food surpassed them all.

The pool is a fantastic example of tranquillity and calm, we spent 3 out of 6 days just relaxing round it. It is full of a wide variety of plants and the views are unsurpasable.A must is one of Osman's boat trips which covered the beach, the caucanos ruins, mud bath and a swim in the lake - which is so secluded, a really special place. Osman is also a nature expert and shows you turtles, nest and birds as well.

Location wise it is a 20 minute walk into the village (but a nice walk) but id' swap the extra few minutes any time in exchange for some peace and quiet during the day and evening. And if you do want to venture in during the day there are some free bikes to borrow. And you can always get a taxi straight away.

Dalayan itself was very quaint and did have some nice restaurants - Ali's, The Chef ( amazing food and value for money -great calamari) and Bears Gryll (amazing view) were all great .... I would however avoid Kosems which we found was distinctly average.

All in all we loved Dalayan and if you are looking to go, the Dalayan Garden Pension should be top of the list....... look out for the three kittens if you go in the next few months; very cute.

We have just returned from our 5th holiday at the Dalyan Garden and it just gets better and better. Ercan, Cathy and the staff are wonderful hosts and nothing is too much trouble for them. The rooms are comfortable and impeccably clean and the garden is paradise. Ercan's BBQ evenings are a real treat - stunning Turkish food, music, dancing and very good company. I have recommended this hotel to several friends and family and they have all returned for another visit - it's irresistible!

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Dalyan Garden Pension in late Sept 2008 and had a fantastic time. The hotel is, as other reviews have already highlighted, wonderfully relaxing , with very friendly and helpful staff.

The rooms are clean and comfortable, the pool is big for the size of the hotel, and the gardens are lovely (complete with a telescope for wannabe star gazers!). The pension proprietor Ercan can organise many excursions in Dalyan, and we loved the river trip which was a definite highlight of the holiday.

The hotel is a 15 minute walk outside of the lovely Dalyan, and you can borrow bikes from the pension that cut this journey to 5 mins. The walk from Dalyan takes you alongside Orange groves and cotton fields... I wish i was there right now!

We cannot recommend the Dalyan Garden Pension enough, and hope to return in the near future.

We had 8 nights at the Dalyan Garden Pension at the start of October and have to say it really is as good as all the reviews...if not better!

the gardens and pool are perfect: nice and chilled and with amazing views of the mountains (not a bad thing to wake up to each day!).

The rooms are spacious, simple and spotlessly clean. Fresh towels each day.

As others have said on this site (including some of the lovely folk we were there with), the BBQ's are simply amazing. Without doubt the best food we had all week and i think the best BBQ food i've EVER had! - Ercan and his staff do a great job with this and everything else.

I've never been one to go back to exactly the same place (too much of ths world still to see!), but I could definitely make an exception with Dalyan Garden Pension.

Ercan will help with info on and arranging the trips and his friend Osman's boat trip was the highlight of the holiday.

Overall it's a great place to stay, very chilled yet you also meet lots of people as you feel part of something a little bit different to the usual holiday places. Plus Ercan is a great host and you can even bet bottles of raki with him when he's sure the Chinese have landed on the moon and refuses to admit it ain't happened!!:)

  • Liked — Pool, atmosphere - chilled, friendliness
  • Disliked — very little but walk into town is about 20mins (but you can always borrow the bikes!!)

From the moment you arrive, till when you leave, you feel like one of the family.

The Dalyan Garden Pension formed the first week of our honeymoon in Turkey. And out of the other places we stayed (Kas and Kalkan), it was the best!

Ercan and his team are very welcoming, warm and friendly. No request is too much, they're always willing to help.

The Pension itself is a very clean and tidy place, Well maintained and looked after. Access to the spacious rooms are via an outdoor staircase which helped give some privacy and made for a quiet life in the rooms.

The garden is the pensions best asset, with amazing plants, winding pathways, beautiful pool, well stocked bar, and 4 sheltered seating areas: time can be spent as private or as sociable as you like. Breakfast was always a great occasion, the food is superb, and it always seemed to turn into a big friendly social gathering! (But if you like privacy, there were plenty of small hideaways for breakfast)

We made friends with other guests staying at the pension, and went on day trips with them (Ercan can organize trips such as Jeep safari and boat trips up the river). It was nice to have people to share the experience with.

From Dalyan, Kaunos ruins are well worth a visit, also it's worth a trip to Koycegiz (organized by Ercan), where we had a nice lunch on the lakeside and 5 beers for what turned out ot be less than £10 GBP! Bargain. Dalyan is not expensive by English standards, but Koycegiz (which is more Turkinsh and slightly less touristy) is half the price for food and drink.

We are very grateful to Ercan and his team for making the start on our honeymoon so special. Thanks again, Scott and Jo.

We have just returned from 11 days at the Dalyan Garden Pension. Everything was just great, beautiful gardens, huge pool, rooms are spotlessly clean and comfortable. The breakfasts were lovely, loads of bread, cheese, fruit and jam, also eggs if you wanted, which kept us going until dinner. Ercan is a good host, very entertaining and nothing is too much trouble. His bbq's are a must, so much food, it just kept coming, we were certainly entertained by Yumul dancing. Sofia is lovely and again nothing is too much trouble. We met some lovely people there and had a very relaxed holiday. We shall definitely go back - can't wait.

We've just returned from a fabulous week at the Dalyan Garden Pension and are already planning our next visit to this idyllic retreat. From the warmest of welcomes it just got better and better. Ercan is a fab host and his recommendations (especially two wonderful boat trips with Osman!) made our stay in Dalyan really special.
The accommodations are very comfortable, the garden and pool are out of this world, breakfasts were plentiful and delicious - best of all the staff are lovely, so friendly and helpful. Do join in should a BBQ be on offer, fresh wholesome homecooking with flavours that are still haunting us.
We returned home relaxed and refreshed by a fabulous stay in wonderful setting. Thanks to all at Dalyan Garden Pension for all their efforts on our behalf. And we will be back!
Generally we found all of Dalyan pretty wonderful, just big enough to have all the services, shops and restaurants you could want. The river travel ensures a slower pace of life and we truly enjoyed bird spotting from the boats, seeing at least a dozen kingfishers! The beach is huge and clean and swimming off the boat in the lake was brilliant as was our trip to the thermal springs. Everyone we met was friendly and hospitable - and did all they could to help us to have a good holiday.
We cannot wait to return to this little bit of paradise!

  • Liked — Absolutely everything!
  • Disliked — Nothing, it was all very good.
