We stayed there for two nights and we dont wan't to leave..... Heather and Peter are very friendly, hospitable and lovely people. It was really hard for us to say goodbye. Breakfast and the diner was fantastic...The lodge is located in a peaceful environment. We walked the Tangariro Crossing a great experience the best walk we ever had....

Hi Eric - I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay. Yes everyone has to leave eventually and its very sad when that happens. We hope to meet again when you return. Kind regards Heather and Peter

We have stayed for a few days and did not want to leave. Heather and Peter are very warm and helpful hosts. They have a beautiful country home and maintain extensive manicured gardens. The room and the large bed were very comfortable and we had everything we wished for. We very much enjoyed the breakfast with the bottled fruit, home-made cereals and we consider ourselves lucky as we were served freshly baked rolls. Once the chickens start laying one will even get fresh eggs!
Heather made many suggestions about the best restaurants in the village, great walks and mountain bike trails in the National Park and a trip to the Whanganui River. Unfortunately, we ran out of time to do it all. So, we will be back!

Room Tip: Our room opened to a private outdoor patio with a view to the garden and golf course

A highly recommended very good en quiet place. Heather and Peter are doing everything so that you feel at home. Upon request Heather makes you a delicious meal.

Tip: If you have a reasonable condition the Tongarino Crossing (a track from 19.4 km) is a GREAT experience. The bus will pick you up early in the morning and brings you back at the end of the day.

Don't forget to drive the Desert road state highway 1 for example from Waiouru, you will see Mount Ruapehu, Mount Ngaurahoe, Mount Tongariro, on the way through to Taupo.

Room Tip: Stay 2 or 3 nights at the Ruhapehu Country Lodge in Ohakune. All (4) the rooms are on the ground f...
