This is perfect for a family day out. Easy enough for kids (8+ ) to ride around. a few hills but relatively flat Stop half way around grab a coffee or and ice cream reward at the end in Orewa. Great family activity, totally recommend! There is one large hill so would recommend heading anti clockwise if you want to avoid going up it!

a perfect place for cycling, walking, beautiful vegetation, wonderful scents of flowers, a good place to contemplate.

Whenever I am in Orewa I always do the cycleway or 'loop. It is 8kms and you can either walk, run or bike it. There is a part or the loop that cuts off into a resdential area and then it comes back onto the paved path. Quite good if you want to get fit although it can get bloody hot at times. I usually bike it. ther are dual lanes for both way traffic.

A lovely walk with a dual walkway especially in high tide. About 7 km. Some benches along the way to have a rest and admire the view.

The cycle way is so popular that at times it can get a little busy with walkers, joggers and cyclists all coming in both directions. Weekends it’s best to go early or late. It is pleasant undulating walk which you can break half way if feeling a little jaded, and have coffee at one of the lovely Milwater cafes. Great asset with toilets handy at the start, or finish and good parking facilities.
