“Our second longterm stay at Pleasant View”
Reviewed 23 February 2013

Rosemary and Ian provided us with excellent bedding, home made breakfasts and a lovely location overlooking the Bay. This year a DVD has been added to our room. We are still travelling in N.Z. and have Ian's golf bag to be dropped off on our way back. Just another little kindness, one of the many shown to us by these wonderful hosts .

We arrived at Pleasant view to a lovely NZ welcome from Rosemary. The first thing we saw as we went into the guests lounge was the large picture windows and the wonderful view of Caroline Bay. We were shown to our room which had equally good views of the bay. A large airy room with a kingsize bed, 2 bedside cabinets and a large built in wardrobe. It had a lovely bright and clean ensuite with a good walkin shower. We had only got unpacked when Rosemary arrived with some of the most delicious newly baked shortbreads, still warm. They were simply yummy. These appeared every day whilst we were at Pleasant view. The guests lounge has two very comfortable sofas a 2 seater and a 4 seater and a television with sky channels including sky sports 1,2 and 3. On day 2 we were in the lounge watching the hector dolphins in Caroline Bay. The lounge also has two sliding windows to allow some very pleasant cool air to come in. All in all Pleasant view is a fantastic place and Rosemary ehhances the place with her bubbly personality.

Room Tip: The Kings size room with its lovely view is a must choice.

My husband and I stayed here for our last night in New Zealand, it was an easy 2 hour drive to the Christchurch Airport the next morning. This place is lovely. It is immaculate, modern and well appointed. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in. Rosemary had delicious continental breakfast options waiting for us in the morning -- yummy homemade muesli, toast, fruit, yogurt, orange juice -- and also offered us a cooked breakfast of delicious eggs and bacon made to order. On our next trip to NZ we will definitely stay here again. Highly recommended!

What a little gem we found here!! This is a house and you have the free run of bottom floor, with one king size ensuite bedroom and a queen size ensuite bedroom (overlooking the beach), a living room with a little kitchen, just lovely. Had the most perfect sleep, so peaceful and quiet. Ian (the host) made continental and full English cooked breakfast (lovely). We were made to feel so welcome and would definitely recommend this as a great place to stay.

Very well appointed and comfortable B&B for our last night in New Zealand. Great view of the sun rising over the sea! Rosemary and Ian were perfect hosts, and provided a very nice breakfast with home-made bread, jams and nutty cereals, amongst the usual bacon and eggs. Big common living area for 2 rooms gave it a family feel. Big comfortable bed and clean, well maintained bathroom. Town has a charming atmosphere, and plenty of good food and coffee available. (Coffee Culture in town has very good coffee and snacks). Timaru is a good place to break the trip from Quenstown to Christchurch. We would certainly stay at Pleasant View again.
Question: How did they get those big rocks into their garden?

More expensive yes but the quality is infinitely better than nearly any other b&b I've ever stayed in. Top notch hotel feel but also like a home because it was cosy. The extra expense was totally offset by the cooked breakfast the next day. Fabulous.

A bit late in posting, but the first one after a 7 week trip in NZ and OZ. This B&B is the best I have experienced in 20 plus years of traveling the backroads (mostly) of the world. If your looking...do not pass this experience. Rosemary and Ian are great hosts. After Qantas losing our luggage, Rosemary gave us a big welcome and settled us in with a "no worries" warmth. Offered to assist in washing our clothes so we'd have fresh the next morning and then provided the very finest breakfast one could wish for. We were here the end of May and Rosemary and Ian were kind enough to order up a clear day for us, in between rainy days. I had two young granddaughters (early and pre-teen) with me on their first international travel experience and their response as we left Pleasant View, was "WOW this is wonderful". Accommodation are first class, food excellent and hospitality the best. Do not miss..reserve now.
