Ok, so I went on a Thursday night - not the busiest of the week. The venue is great - a historic building, high ceilings and historic detail. But only three of the twelve tables were taken.
The one waiter was efficient and knowledgable. Small point, but when I immediately ordered a beer, I was not offered the wine list for the meal.
Starter was a home made mushroom and bacon soup, pleasant, warming and interesting taste.
For the main I chose the full size fillet steak. Whereas most fillet steaks are only some 2-3cm think, this was double that, but still cooked medium as ordered. That is good, as getting a thick steak right is not easy.
I don't eat desserts but a port and coffee ended the meal. And good that they had port - so many restaurants these days don't bother.
Total bill, NZ$90 for one.
Good meal, good service, but a shame that the place was not busier, and did not have a 'buzz'.
