“Best Wreck Diving in the World”
Reviewed 3 December 2013 via mobile

I may be biased because I have only been a few places to dive wrecks but Chuuk (Truk) Lagoon is amazing! Wreck diving at its finest!
The resort was comfortable but definitely not fancy. Resort electricity is supplied by its own 2 generators, so they switch between them at 6 AM and 6 PM everyday. Good, reliable power is a really nice feature for this remote location. The dive operation is top notch. The boats are perfect for the diving. The dive guides and boatmen are excellent. Refilling our double tanks with nitrox or helitrox was very efficient but not cheap. That goes with the location. The staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant was okay and did have some choices. Bring along a new shower head because the ones there are old and don't work well.
I would go back to Blue Lagoon Resort again.

The rooms were functional and capable. Considering the island, these are probably best rooms on the island. The restaurant wasn't fancy but the food was passable. The electricity went out on a regular basis so the internet access was very spotty and slow.

Stayed at the blue lagoon for eight nights while diving the incredible wrecks of truk lagoon. Many reviews have criticized the hotel for being tired, lack of hot water, etc. Visitors to Chuuk need to put things into perspective. Chuuk is incredibly isolated and most people live a subsistence life style. The friendliness of the staff and the amazing diving more then make up for a few missing creature comforts, If your a bit precious, stay in Hawaii. Special thanks to Marilyn at the bar, she makes a great long island ice tea!

I stopped here hopping through Micronesia. I agree with most the postings about the beautiful grounds and dated rooms. This was the largest hotel during my 3 island stop over in Micronesia. It offered the most services of the three hotels I stayed in. I was surprised to find a spa here. The spa service was nice. Like everything in the resort, they make do with what they have. The staff is very friendly and very helpful.

The food was pretty good and the service was very reasonable. Service at the bar was good. They selection of beer was larger than I expected. However, a lot of the beers listed they were out of. Understandable when the supply ship from Guam only arrives twice a week. Watching the sun set from the bar was spectacular.

I do not dive and did not have any problems entertaining myself during my 2 night stay here. WiFi is available for free in the lobby. They have a large number of DVDs to borrow in the gift shop to watch. It was really nice to be completely unplugged from my smart phone and TV for several days. It is advisable to book any island tours before you arrive. The offer island tours, camping adventures on some of the other islands, and snorkeling tours. I tried to book a snorkeling tour but all the boats were booked up for the day.

FYI, they do charge for transportation to and from the airport. They will let you know when to meet in the lobby for departure. They also charge a fee for the use of credit cards.

Room Tip: First floor rooms are easier to get to with your luggage sine there are no elevators.

The diving in Truk is awesome. Unfortunately the same cannot be said for the Blue Lagoon resort. We were not expecting 5 star luxury and the rooms were adequate if a little tired. Hot water is "scheduled" so it was luck of the draw if you actually were able to have a hot shower.
Service in the restaurant was very slow - one lunch we waited over an hour and a half to get our food
Diving at the resort was very expensive -way above any other dive resort we have stayed in although the dive crews were great.

Have to remember you're on a remote island, not USA. Yes, the beds are hard, lack luster linens and furnishings, but the view & AC were great, They are doing the best they can do with the supplies they have at hand. Staff is great and the food was better than any on Palau! Diving and dive staff was incredible.

Room Tip: all rooms have ocean view....we were in 204

the very good rating is comparative. We are in a third world country and this place is pretty good in that situation adn light years better than the 2 live aboard options.
All rooms have a view and balcony. 2 double beds - ours were rock hard, the others had too soft, All we needed was Goldilocks!! Shower was like a giant hose, but worked well. Bar fridge in all rooms, air con that worked most times. Lovely grounds that are well cared for.
Food was an adventure. 1 in 10 will get something other than what you ordered - but there is a reasonable menu and the food was always edible. (not like the liveaboards!!) you can ask for stuff not on menu - like lobster or BBQ. both were great options,
Staff are friendly, place is clean, drinks cheap, dogs and cats to play with and close to the dive shop. Diving to die for. Highly recommend this resort to a diver.

Room Tip: rooms in 100s face west and on ground floor. 200s face west and second floor. better rooms are 300...
