We booked a room a couple months in advance, we had our glacier hike with MICA tours the next morning. When we arrived Brenda was very welcoming she informed us that we would be staying in the cabin. The cabin was very modern, with a huge picture window where we could see the pond and a Moose cutting through around 11pm!

If your looking for dinner, you options are VERY limited so plan in advance! Breakfast was awesome! If you are cutting through or have plans to hike the glacier.... This is the place to stay!

Complete beauty surrounds you at the Matanuska Lodge. The view, the lodge and the people at the lodge are something to behold! My wife and I were treated like long lost family members. Come see for yourself.

This lodge is incredible! Endless crazy, eclectic, funky furnishings and art works (I'm some of them priceless), openly displayed for everyone's enjoyment. The owner, Brenda, has put so much thought into everything: gifts of luggage tags and aluminium water bottles for each guest; a picnic backpack for your hiking use; bathroom drawers filled with 'in case' items (disposable toothbrushes, wetwipes, plasters, loo spritzer etc); bedside drawers with a magnifying glass and small nighttime reading light...the list goes on and on!
I kept noticing new funky things - the bedside clock had different coloured numbers; my bathrobe was fleecy leopard print (with bright pink trim!); the lampshades were edged with gorgeous beadwork; each wall was adorned with a different paint technique and even the inside of the shower was beautifully decorated with artwork.
And as for the breakfasts... well my husband and I wanted to take the chefs, Elliot and Patti, home with us. Such variety and so very yummy!
With regards to Brenda's lovely dogs, yes they are around but they are well contained and are beautifully behaved. If you do have an aversion to dogs then choose one of the downstairs rooms (Saddlenotch or Fortress Room), as these two rooms have their own little lounge and pub and the dogs are not allowed down there. Once again, nothing downstairs has been forgotten - there is an ice maker, a capsule coffee machine, and an assortment of liqueurs for your (free!) enjoyment. Oh and also an outside jacuzzi - perfect to relax in after your return from having supper at one of the three nearby restaurants.
The best of all is that unlike some of the other lodges we stayed at, this lodge has NO RULES. Their only request is that you wear a life-jacket while kayaking. Everyone was so helpful and accommodating - Dianne assisted us with our clothes washing and drying.
We saw a moose on the front lawn early on our first morning and then later in the day whilst kayaking we saw another moose and her calf at the edge of the lake. This place is truly magical!

My husband and I stayed at Matanuska Lodge for three nights and had an absolutely wonderful time. The Lodge came highly recommended by my brother-in-law, who works in the area. Brenda and her friendly team welcomed us with open arms and of course a hearty breakfast each morning. Our room was equipped with absolutely everything you could imagine- high-end shower products, a hot shower, a huge comfortable bed, water bottles, luggage tags, chocolate, and complete privacy. The lodge itself is gorgeous and kept in immaculate shape. We took a canoe out on the lake one afternoon, sipped cocktails on the patio, and soaked in the jacuzzi in the evening after a day on the nearby glacier. The location of the Lodge offers something for everyone, whether you want close access to hiking trails, the glacier, and a few restaurants, or just a few nights of luxurious R&R. Many thanks to Brenda and her crew for making our stay completely wonderful. We will be back!

This B&B is all luxury and details. Brenda the owner keeps it whimsical and very eclectic. She says she is always changing and adding to the lodge. In our room there was a large walk in shower with L'occitane products, chocolates, luggage tags and water bottles. The breakfast was delicious.
We stayed here because we did the ice climb with MICA guides. They recommended this lodge. What a great choice because the Jacuzzi tub after our day on the glacier was heaven! The lodge is located minutes from MICA and it is midway between Anchorage and GlenAllen on the Glenn highway. Brenda does breakfast only now. We ate dinner at Sheep Mountain about 20 minutes away.
Please note: Brenda brings her 4 dogs here all summer. If you are not dog friendly or allergic you need to be aware. The dogs roam all over the public areas. They come right up to you and sit on the furniture too.

Wonderful experience at this lodge. The owner did not spare any expense. Even though this was a working team event for work, it felt like we were on a retreat. Staying at this lodge in the winter was a wonderful experience and would love to visit in the summer.

Highly recommend this place for personal and business use.....we did our own cooking, and the kitchen was supplied with everything, from waffle and sandwhich maker's to a VitaMix blender. Thank you Brenda was outfitting your place with great taste and comfort.
