I recently stayed at Traleika for a night on my way up from Homer to Denali. There were four of us, and we stayed in the Birchcrest cabin. I loved the view despite the rather gloomy weather, and it was thrilling to see a moose poking its head out as I drove up the hillside! The cabin was beautiful inside, and very nicely furnished. It was such a peaceful place, and meeting Whitney was fun. I think I could have talked with her for hours to hear about her experiences as a guide on Denali! I hope to be back to Alaska at some point in the future, and if I need a place to stay in Talkeetna, I would return to Traleika in a heartbeat!

Room Tip: The Birchcrest is tucked behind another cabin, so the view isn't directly outward, but there are...

With little idea of what to expect, we wound our way up the switchbacks on a gravel road to the most perfectly located cabin amongst the trees with spectacular views of Denali. It helps that we had flawless weather while in Talkeetna, which provided us stunning mountain vistas from our cabin's balcony and master bedroom, but even if it had rained the whole time we still would have enjoyed our time snuggled in the trees away from the tourists just south of Talkeetna.

My husband and I spent the first two nights of our honeymoon in the Sultana cabin. Whitney was a friendly host who came over to welcome us upon our arrival. We found the cabin to be clean with everything we needed to get by (a cobbled together but charming array of kitchenwares, some old board games and plenty of books and magazines on Alaska, a little grill on the deck, etc.). In terms of practicalities, there was plenty of hot water and there was internet, though it was usually slow and sometimes non-functional (this didn't bother us as we literally spent hours just staring at the mountains, mesmerized, nor did we really bother to fix it beyond restarting the router once).

In terms of the less tangible, the Sultana cabin and the Traleika property in general was exactly what we never knew we wanted. It was isolated from the main town so nary a tourist was in sight, it was isolated from others (save for the two neighboring cabins) which meant all that we saw was vast mountain vistas and millions of trees, and it was the perfect retreat to lay on the balcony, be surrounded by nature, or snuggle in the cozy beds as night set in and a cold breeze entered. If you are looking to be in the heart of the action, this isn't the place for you, but if you're coming to Alaska to experience the wonder of being a small human in a vast and gorgeous landscape, Traleika is perfection. Bonus: lots of moose sightings along the road just past the cabins!

Room Tip: The Sultana cabin had a large deck looking right across the valley and at Denali and its neighboring...

We stayed here for 2 days when our friend came to visit. Plenty of room for 5 people and a quiet place. It was rainy and cloudy when stayed so we didn't get to see the nice view of Denali but we still loved it.
We would like to go back next summer! Beautiful and peaceful place!

The evening we arrived at the Denali View Cabin, we were in awe! The amazing clear day, as well as, the owner, Whitney, warmly welcomed us! The view…oh, the view! We were so grateful we could rest there, enjoy dinner on the deck, and anticipate our flight over the majestic Denali mountains the next day!
We would have liked to stay one more night, but had to get back to Anchorage for our flight home. What a great way to end the dream-come-true trip to Alaska, with my husband and Dad and Mom!

Room Tip: There are 3 cabins at Traleika Mountaintop Cabins! All very nice, I'm sure…but the middle one h...

We were made to feel at home in the beautiful cabin and we spent the night with fog and rain surrounding us. Laughter and a scrabble game commenced into the wee hours. In the morning as the fog lifted Denali and the Alaska Range came into view and this is the perfect place to capture perfect photographs of The Great One! The cabin had everything we needed we just had to provide our own food! This place is great for two, family's and for friends gathering! Awesome place!

Room Tip: All three of the cabins have a great view!

I rate this facility five stars, since I think anyone staying in Talkeetna is staying for the view of Denali. We stopped at six of the ten places listed as public locations for viewing Denali on our drive up, and only one matched the view from our porch at Traleika. Even the locals commented on how good the view is from Traleika when we told them where we were staying. This greatly increased our views of Denali, since several glimpses we had of the mountain were first thing in the morning, or last thing at night. Besides, we could view in privacy, snacks at hand. Truly a world class experience.
As for the facility itself, there is nothing wrong with it, but it would not be a five star facility without the view. The internet is good, the curtains a bit marginal, the rooms small, the kitchen adequately equipped, the bathroom acceptable. If the clouds part, and Denali appears, you won't notice. I spent hours on the porch, and we are talking about going back, and spending a week on the porch.
One word of warning. We had a basic SUV, and had no problems. My brother in law drove a sedan, and had some problems driving in when it rained. The road is a decent dirt road for Alaska, but it certainly is not paved.

Stayed in the cabin on our honeymoon and loved it. Quiet, comfortable, secluded and an amazing view. The cabin had lots of nice amenities including pots/pans, hot plate, coffee maker, fridge and even lots of great books and a few dvd's for those rainy days. Nice open floor plan and could easily sleep 8 people.
